I am curious if anyone has tried to install or thought of installing a 3. 9 B series Cummins into a Durango? I have tried some searches and nothing has turned up. I don't know if it will fit and what type of mounts/adapters one would have to fabricate, but to me, I like the concept. I know that with a turbo and aftercooler, the 3. 9 B would have good power and it should get 25-35 mpg. Any thoughts on this setup???

I was thinking more on the line of a daily driver. Something with a 3. 9 B that might fit under the hood without extensive engine compartment modification.

i'd still love to stick a 3. 9BT in a jeep, or one of them 4-53T detroit 2 cycle's in there with the governor set @ 3k. a little smaller the green grenade is at ±3. 5liters but it'll sure be different. & with 4" straight pipes it'll sound cool too :D:D

I saw and heard an old flat fender with a 3. 9 in it a few weeks ago durring Jeep Safari. It was real cool. I looked over at the guys as I went by and gave them a thumbs up. The driver held four fingers in the air and I nodded.

Nick, that 4-53 is way too heavy and way too gutless to bother putting in anything. That engine would never fit in a jeep. I will say they are mighty good at turning diesel fuel into noise though!!

I still have that little 4 cylinder Benz diesel you could easily put in a jeep. Runs good and the price is right. If you want more power in a small diesel, look for a 5 cylinder Benz turbo diesel.

Actually, he used the stock engine mounts. Said it was an easy fit. Contact him.
