My buddy has a smarty and he loaded into another buddies truck, after that the 3 cylinder idle was activated and stayed on the truck even after turned back to stock. I put the smarty on my truck but havn't noticed it 3 cylinder idle yet, does anybody know if it is suppose to stay activated after returned to stock and what are the parameters for it to kick in.

Hopefully bob will see this

for my high idle to kick in it needs to be low 20's for about 12 hours for the 3 cylinder to kick in it needs to be low teens or colder for about 12 hours straight (no starts/no pluggin' in, etc).

Hope this helps

yeah it hasn't got that cold yet, 11 degrees is what it is suppose to be in a couple of days, I hope it kicks in cause I love the way it sounds. Thanks Bob,

3 cyc idle with 4" straight pipe and Mach 4's is a terrible sound. It sounds like I have marbles in the engine... my neighbor came out of his house last winter to see if there was a problem with my truck.

Odd. My 99 w/ Jammer Stage II tips & Smarty set on economy really doesn't sound that much different on the 3cyl idle, aside from RPMs. It also doesn't kick in until down below 20 degrees F.

Are you sure it is on 3-cylinders? When it kicks 3 off it sounds horrible (-: (great to my ears).

Listen to the youtube video in my signature and you'll know for sure.

I'm pretty sure it activated..... the idle speed spun up over idle. Once the coolant warmed up, it dropped back down to it's normal 800 RPMs or so.

There are 2 stages,

1st high idle, when the temperature is in the 20's it ramps up to 1200RPM with all 6 cylinders and stays there until warmed up.

2nd high idle, when the temperature is in below 10F it will ramp up to 1200RPM on all 6 cylinders and then after a few seconds shut off 3. There is a massive change in engine noise, you will know it!

I don't think you were on 3 cylinders.

Ahhh... ..... I was unaware of the 2 stages. I haven't started it below 10 degrees since it's been Smartyized.

Yeah high idle sounds cool. 3 cylinder high idle almost made me cry the first time my truck did it. I thought it was gonna come apart and blow!

LOL

Can this option be used on more than one truck with the smarty? I thought I read somewhere that it will only work with one? I'd like to do it.

Beach,

Borrow a Smarty from someone, download software from #1 - #9, then download it back to stock which will put the latest factory updates into your ecm, including the 3 cyl idle.

WARNING!!!!!
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DRIVE YOUR TRUCK WITH ANY OF SMARTY'S "CATCHER" SOFTWARES LOADED!!!! YOU WILL ENJOY IT SO MUCH YOU WILL SUDDENLY NOTICE YOUR WALLET $650 LIGHTER! AND A MUCH BIGGER GRIN ON YOUR FACE.

Godspeed,
Trent

yeah, it hasn't got cold yet, suppose to be 12 degrees tonight so I will start it in the morning and see what happens.

That warning is so true, but the good thing about a buddy having it, is that I can use it whenever, as long as it isn't downloaded into his truck. And the scan tool part is worth its weight in gold
