yep I know of at least 4 that have it off of one truck, just can't wait for it to kick in. all it does it enable it when you download the program and it keeps it enabled after returning to stock.

there are three parameters that must be met...

IAT below 32

ECT below 140

and 0% throttle

There are more parameters than that.

Those are just a few to get fast idle. The parameters are the same but need to see lower temps like 10-15 degrees to get 3 cyl cutout to start.

Also

Needs to see either park if an auto or neutral and Park brake set on auto and manual. And need to have not seen a service brake pedal or accelerator signal for 3 minutes roughly.

Anyone else have the no high idle/3 cyl idle when changing Smarty programs? Ever since Smarty was new if I change Smarty programs I have to return to stock first then load new program or 3cyl won't work. Last two days it was below 10 degrees and sat overnight for 12+ hours and no 3 cyl. Usually the 3 cyl will work at about 18 degrees on the overhead.

Also the parameters of temps can vary with every truck based on the differences in resistance of the sensors. Course I have to reload mine first to get this back. :D

Just an update, it was -10 all night with 30+ mph winds, when I went out this morning it was -8 and still windy, started it up, took forever to fire, when it started, it went into high idle and then about 10 seconds later it kicked into 3 cylinder idle, wife called me and asked what was wrong with my truck :-laf , it works really well to warm the truck up, only idled about 5 mins. while I loaded some wood into the back of the truck, and after only driving about a mile the temp needle was starting to move, usually takes almost 5 miles to do the same.

Wind chill doesn't affect the absolute temperature of metal. If it is -10 it is -10 with 100MPH winds.

Windy conditions will transfer the heat out of the engine faster but once at temp it has no effect.

Beach,

Borrow a Smarty from someone, download software from #1 - #9, then download it back to stock which will put the latest factory updates into your ecm, including the 3 cyl idle.

WARNING!!!!!

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DRIVE YOUR TRUCK WITH ANY OF SMARTY'S "CATCHER" SOFTWARES LOADED!!!! YOU WILL ENJOY IT SO MUCH YOU WILL SUDDENLY NOTICE YOUR WALLET $650 LIGHTER! AND A MUCH BIGGER GRIN ON YOUR FACE.

Godspeed,

Trent

When returned back to stock will it be updated with the 1200rpm 6cyl high idle AND the 3cyl high idle?

Ahhh... ..... I was unaware of the 2 stages. I haven't started it below 10 degrees since it's been Smartyized.
3cyl *FINALLY* kicked in this morning, at -4 F. The temp got down to -10 or so, and I didn't have it plugged in to the timer.

After starting it, I was chatting with my landlord when 3cyl kicked in... ... wow.

My '06 w/smarty jr. still won't kick in the 3 cylinder idle. Was -9 this am and below zero all day yesterday. Started, went straight to high idle (1000) and sat there for 5 minutes while i froze my butt off waiting for the 3 cylinder to kick in. No dice. I have an e-mail in to Bob to find out what's wrong.

Just heard back from Bob... apparently 3 cyl only works on '98-'02. My Bad. Feel kinda stupid knowing I've been standing outside in -25 windchill weather waiting for my truck to make noise... ...
