3 Cylinder Idle?

Hi,

I live in Montana where it gets bone cold at times. A couple of days ago the temp. was well below zero when I started my truck. Not realizing it was supposed to get that cold I had not plugged it in the night before.

I was given a few unexpected "honeydo's" after startup so the engine idled for about 10 minutes. The 3 cylinder idle referred to in TSB 18-31-1 never kicked in. Is the computer reprogrammed at the dealer on an as needed basis? And is it covered under warranty? Anyone know about this out there?

Thanks for the quick replies as the dealer gets to have my truck back tomorrow to figure out the 3rd gear problem referred to in my previous post.

Hi and welcome to the TDR, I'm sure you'll love it and you're wallet will hate it! It's nice to see somebody else from Bozeman on here, so far I only know of three.



I've never heard of the 3 cylinder idle, but if it is a reflash the dealer should do it. If you don't already know, our dealer here sometimes isn't the most cooperative. If they won't do it, go to Helena, the dealer up there is fantastic.



So what kind of mods have you done or have planned?

Your dealer needs to enable the feature. If you look for the other thread on this subject, there is lots of information, including names and numbers of service people who know how to do it. I needed to take mine back to the dealer a second time, but it works now. Pretty neat feature!
