3 Gauge Pillar just installed

I just put in my first three gauge pillar with tweeter. The quality matches the two gauge and the tweeter does fit well. The installation is done over the existing pillar and all wires can be run thru the old tweeter location.

I mounted my transmission sending unit in the cooler line, with a brass tee and compression fittings. It works great. Definitely shows you what the transmission is doing. Plus, it has been over 100 degrees this month, so I know the transmission is getting hotter.

I am just guessing he put it in the same spot as mine, used a compression "T" fitting on the line going from the transmission to the cooler. <font size=-2>

Bob:
Mount the sender in the front line from the transmission that leads to the cooler on the passenger side of the engine. You will need the following;

(2) 1/2 compression X 3/8" Male NPT Fittings
(1) 3/8" Female NPT Pipe Tee

Depending on the fittings supplied with your gauge you may be able to thread the sender directly into the third port of the pipe tee. I have done several this way, including Kats, and it works great.

Question on any and all brands of A pillar mounts. They all look to make a huge blind spot even bigger? Do you guys find your vision impaired at all? I will be doing gauges in the next few weeks, and while I have decided to go with the VDO Vision gauges and mount the probe post turbo, I still can't decide where to mount the gauges themselves. The pillar looks the coolest, but I am concerned about a vision problem, banging into them getting in and out and lastly the safety factor should one be involved in an accident. Any feed back?

I have the two guage and just got in the three guage pillar mount(intall soon!). I used the westack guages. The plastic is enough to hold the guages up but a little less rigid than the pillar trim it covers. The westack guages are nice but the are light- would definitely loose if you hit them hard with your head- not that it would not be painfull. If you got liquid filled autometer racing guages- that would be different. From my height-perspective ( 5'10-I like the seat way back) the guages stick out a very small amount int the vision field of the front window-sort of like a bug on a 4x4- does not really change the dimensions.

Shelby, I agree with Forrest & Pete. It doesn`t make the blind spot any worse. It takes a couple of days to get used too it.

A tip: Put the guages that you will be monitering most in the bottom or middle hole. The top is a little high. Takes you eyes off the road. I had my EGT in the top hole. Switched it to the middle. Much better. Switching gauges to different holes is a pain.

Also, When you slide the boost gauge into the hole, becareful not to kink the tubing. I did it twice. Gently pulling on the boost line under the dash at the same time when pushing the guage in worked well. I have a mess of wires behind the gauge pod. The boost line does not want to freely push down into the dash. Its kind of tight between A-Pillar & Gauge pod. It wants to kink about an 1/2" from the back of the gauge. The ferrules are not reusable either. I had to get mine from NAPA. A quarter a piece.


PS: Please excuse some of the wording in the above post. "switching holes" "slide the gauge in the hole" "kind of tight" " It wants to kink" ect. I just noticed it. #ad
