Good idea I had that one and it creates one heck of a blind spot. Changed to the pillar mount as well.

OK, now an opinion from the other side... .

I finally received my Auto Meter 15002 triple dash pod (I've been trying to convey in prior posts that this was a triple DASH pod, not a triple pillar pod). Anyway, I installed mine this weekend and it looks likes it could have been a factory option -- it looks excellent. The wires can be completely hidden if installed "right. " I painted it with Mopar matching interior spray paint.
This pod sits all the way forward on the center of the dash bewteen the two defrost vents (not at the front edge), and the top of the pod is perfectly contoured match the windshield. The gages are canted at an angle towards the driver for easy viewing, and it does NOT create any blind spot or obstruct your vision. It is really a well engineered product. Just my $0. 02.

Do you have any pictures of your guage pod? I'd like to see how it looks.

Drag Racer, do they have a site and ifn so could u post the address (or at least the ph# for contact info or e-mail me the info).

Randy J, unfortunately, I don't have easy access to a digital camera.

Ben Stair, the pod is mfg. by Auto Meter (www.autometer.com); last time I checked their site, they didn't have a picture posted for this yet because it is a new product for 2000. I ordered mine from Jeg's (1-800-345-4545). Cost was $49. 99.

Drag Racer what kind of gauges did you use in the autometer dash pod? Were they autometer or others? Do you know where I can see a picture of the gauge pod? How did you route the wiring. Would have e-mailed you but didn't see a e-mail address. TNX

kompressor,

1) i use auto meter gages exclusively; i have a 2-gage "A" pillar mount (boost and EGT), and the 3-gage dash pod (oil temp, trans temp, and rear end temp). they are all 2 1/16" dia. Sport-Comp models (except for EGT, which is a 2 1/16" Pro-Comp model).

2) i don't know where you can find a picture of the dash pod; if you are not sure if you want it, you could order it from Jeg's or Summit and return it if you don't like it. at least that way you can evaluate it first hand.

3) where the dashboard meets the windshield, there is a nice little channel in which the wires lay very nicely (nearly out of sight). i also have a dashmat which hides them totally.

On the Auto Meter side under "New Gauge Works for 2000" there is a picture of item number 15002 that is a dash mount. Is this the one you have?

charliep,

Drag Racer,
Where did you get the Mopar Paint for the trim, is it the camel color. What part number. Do you have the tweeter on your pillar? I painted a 2 guage pilar and the color is not quite right. Of course my Dodge dealer said they know nothing about interior paint...
thanks in advance,
-Fitz

Fitz,

The Mopar dealers carry (or can order) interior paint that is supposed to be an exact match of the factory interior trim colors. They have the part numbers in their books. Yes, I have the tweeter speaker.

I happen to have the "agate" interior. The paint ran me about $10 per can, and it's a small can (only 6 or 9 oz. ). In my case, the color match is not exact, but pretty close. I think the difference in tint is due to the fact that the factory trim pieces have the color molded in the material, as opposed to being painted after manufacturing.

Drag Racer,

In the autometer.com picture of the 15002 gauge pod, there are some serious reflections. Do you have this problem? Is it any worse during the day or night?

Thanks... ..... Hal

I drove my rig last weeekend in both daylight and at night, and have no recollection of reflection problems.

Drag Racer,
I thought the dash pod setup looks so great that I just went ahead and ordered one along with a set of gauges. Got them from GoFastParts.com: http://stores. yahoo.com/gofast/ or call 1-888-6GOFAST. I had checked around and they seem to have great prices. They are willing to price match. I am going with Autometer Boost 0-35psi (pn 3304), Pyro 0-1600F (pn 3365), street series EGT probe (pn 5249), and 0-15psi fuel pressue gauge (pn 3311). The whole 9 yards was $264. 94 with shipping. These are all Autometer's Sport Comp series like what you see in the photos above. I plan to monitor fuel pressure between the filter and injection pump.

Vaughn
