I am writing this to let everyone know how great these trucks are!
I have owned my truck for a few months now and am so happy I bought it. It is a 96 4x4 12v 5spd club cab long bed with 160k on it and i got it for 9k... .
Engine:
The 12v has lots of power and runs very smooth, always starts up and runs great. It is not as loud as a 24V but it sounds great. Being stock, you need to keep it up in the right RPM range for it to be quick.
transmission:
Smooth shifting and very tight. 3 and 4 gears are too wide and it would be nice to have a 6spd for that reason.
4x4:
Always engages and this 4x4 system with the diesel make the thing pull awsome!
Body/Paint:
Body is great but the bed is kind of weak behind the cab. Paint is terrible, following the lawsuit path for delamination. Headlights could be brighter
Interior: The cab is very roomy and the dash is sweet looking. The cubby where the passenger air bag would be serves a much better purpose being a cubby
Comfy seats, plenty of room in the rear!
Costs:
New fuel lines ($5) and new lift pump ($120)
This truck is great and I lot driving the hell out of it! I would recommend one is a heartbeat!
