Anyone rather serious about some power and MPG, there are 3 things I think need to be addressed. maybe some companies out here already are, maybe some would like to step up to the plate. Here's the scoop:
1: RPM limit The 2nd gen 24 valvers can spin up to 4000rpm, I'm sure the 3rd gen motors can. Just need some help from the CP3 pump and ECU/PCM. I know I read here that there are people working on the pump and that it is possible with a downloader from some place that say they can fuel past 3200rpm. I suspect this isn't too far off.
2: 100% throttle: I was reading a few days ago about how the 3rd gens pull harder and faster and react better if you don't just matt your foot to the floor. This is true. I notice a much bigger smoke cloud and quicker responce if y ou ease into things. Short of putting a bottle cap under the accelerator, there has to be an ECU/PCM fix for this emissions annoyance and get REAL 100% throttle.
3: 3rd injector event: now this one I may be WAAAAAY off base here, but is this an event that fires durning the exhaust stroke just to heat up the exhaust gasses to keep that Cat warm (that is missing from some of our trucks anyways). Does this event goaway once water temp is up there for assuming the Cat's temp is up as well? Is this an idle/near-idle only event? If this event is happening all the time, think of the fuel savings that can be had...
4: idle control with the 6 speed
I'm sure this is in the works aswell
Now I would l ike to heard some solid technical reasoning behind these ideas as to learn.
