3-piece exhaust manifold standard on big trucks

I had mine Jet Hot coated too. Inside & out. I also gasket matched all head ports and the exhaust port. If you have allen head bolts, be ready to grind & cut an allen wrench to screw in the 2 top bolts in the center section. #ad

Have you all seen the TSB for exhaust manifold bolts. Its NO;00-002-01. Part #05072387AA, consists of 4 exhaust manifold retention straps. I haven't seen them, but have them on order, $2 and some odd cents ea.
I'm going to put them on when I install my ATS.

The ting is I drive interstate truck for a living and this kind of manifold was on a volvo with a N14 cummins. Not ATS brand but a similar design. go figure

those straps are on the 2001 engines . i would like an ATS manifold but i'm to cheap to spend what it costs for what i am told is little to no gain , anyone confirm what it gained you for the cost ???

All of our trucks at work,asa I drive for a living to,all Cummins equipped L10 310,M11 selects and N14 selects,are all with the same manifold piece,,Kinda wonder why it took so long for it to be adapted to our smaller rides,,My area shop manager(we went to school together) was at my house the other weekend and saw my manifold laying to be shipped to be Jet-Hot coated and remarked about it,,Its a great piece and can not wait till its on... .

Good question, Mopar. The 3 peice manifolds are usually a fix for leaking gaskets/ broken studs, due to heat expansion. Added flow would be a plus and a good sell point... T

I got also got one of those at May Madness. Jet Hot and port matching is on the list and there has to some HP gain, but after all my mods I am my own warranty station.

Jet Hot worked on my Minisprint engine about 3. 5% hp gain which would be 17hp on the Cummins.

Piers put the ATS manifold on a flow bench. he are his results:


Stk manifold flowed 142 cfm
ATS manifold flowed 153 cfm
after porting at the head flanges
it flowed 156 cfm & after porting the turbo flange area it flowed 160 cfm.

The engine seems to rev up easier with the decreased exhaust restriction. Probably picked up some HP & torque. Tough to tell by the seat of the pants. I'm happy with mine. I wouldn't go back to the OE manifold. When gasket matching and porting the manifold, just keep in mind "lots of work, little gained". Most of the exhaust restriction is in the turbo exhaust housing, where the cm is measured.

I just put mine on today. The Allen bolts that go into it has to be the size of the wrench on the center 4 bolts, otherwise you can use a socket that has an allen wrench on the others. If you have a 24 valve, you need to cut off the mount for the heater hose and use a stip of metal to bolt around the hose and then use the 12 valve mounting area to hold the strip of metal.

first drive with the new manifold.
I believe the post turbo temp is 50 deg cooler when at full highway cruise. I have seen it at 650 at 75 MPh but now it is 600 or less.
When I changed the manifold, I noticed the stock one was half the weight of the ATS. and the pipe is a little bigger i think.
All in all, glad I got this manifold. great piece of mind knowing it will not crack.
