Well I just came up from watching the ESPN made Dale Earnhardt movie and would like to hear what everone else thought of it. I thought it was tastfully done and showed some of the other sides of the "Man In Black" we never knew. Its amazing the hole NASCAR still has in it with his passing and to this day I feel they still are working to overcome it.

I was not a Dale fan period, but, you had to respect his ability to wheel more out of a marginal ride than most can a good ride now. One thing is for sure he left behind a legacy and a set of shoes that I feel no one today will ever fill..... Andy

Man, that last scene choked me up too. I don't know a whole lot about Nascar or Earnhardt, but you have to respect his determination to make it to the top. Thumbs up!

Surprised me that it was tastefully done. Dale Jr. didn't officially 'collaborate' with the production, but I read where he provided some of the story material.

Sure used a good looking 'Teresa'!

I never was a Big E fan but respected his abilities and wins. I didn't like the way he raced or what I thought he got away. The sport has changed since he left, sort of a passing of the guard. I don't watch NASCAR at all anymore. I really wanted to see the movie and hope to understand the man better. I'm hope it will be on again sometime soon.

Damn I missed it

Really want to see that. I was a huge Mark Martin fan from the day he hopped in the Stroh Light Ford, watching him battle the 3 especially in the early years left me with no question who the greatest driver in Nascar history was. #3! I no longer watch as a I feel Nascar has betrayed its roots by pulling all the races from some gloriuos old tracks. I watched from the time I was a baby too.

Anyway, I remember some great Earnhardt moments such as:

The pass in the grass

The Winston where Mark Martin dominated totally and was beat by the 3 driving by him on the outside on a last two lap restart.

Earnhardt passing Martin at a Road course for his first RC win.

Sadly the day Nascar died at Daytona :(

Really have not been able to enjoy it since, but every now ant then I catch a race on ESPN classic and man is it Oo.

I thought it was pretty well done. Seen it acouple times as they have run it acouple times during the day when I am home. I'm not a huge NASCAR fan and watch it on and off. But the races are less exciting then they used to be, for me anyway. Who wants to see 20 cars 3 wide going around the track in a restrictor plate race? Does make for some great wrecks tho. I usually only watch the first dozen or so laps and then tune in for the last 50-75 laps.

I do remember watching the race when he crashed. My friend and I just couldn't believe it killed him at the time because it didn't look like that bad of a wreck. I do think it was kinda pointless tho of Marlin and everyone else to be trying to make a move like that coming outta the last turn for 3rd place. For 1st woulda been a whole nother story, but 3rd place. C'mon now who remembers who finishes 3rd in a race?

Nathan

ndurbin, you are not a racer, are you? ;)

If there is a car in front of you, especially if its Dale, you try to pass it.

Points count, every race. :)

The movie was okay, but I got tired of hearing every cliche' Earnhardtisim that they could pull out of the SportsCentury and Beyond the glory episodes- We've all heard them- ("just meant to rattle his cage" "couldnt castrate him witha chainsaw" etc. ) I've been an Earnhardt fan for a very long time... . I understand that putting the quotes in helped to paint a picture of the man, but they could have at least had the right person saying them at the right time. Humpy Wheeler made the "chainsaw" comment after Dale died.....
