Ok thanks. The fluctuating at idle in or out of gear can be heard - I neglected to mention. So wish I could load a video...

Videos have to go on YouTube then paste the link.

You can make them private where only people with the link can see them, so if you don't want it public just post the link in the thread.

It's super easy, especially if you have young kids around who can help navigate they love to jump in and get these things posted.

I liked the idea on M73M about looking at the live data and engine % load and the sort. They really have these things figured out over there

Glad you got some help, it's never a bad deal, that is their speciality over there nothing wrong with that. I find while they are performance driven over there they are more fuel and power economy trying to make good power with the best use of fuel, not just cranking the smoke screw. I can't keep up with it all when they get in the weeds with the injector sizing and and sort. Pretty smart folks for sure.

Agree with you Tim. I use to throw them some money but now it's $100 membership. Something this old retired fixed income can't justify.

Yeah no clue where I exactly fit in on either site, I'm not all in on either one at times. I'm able to maintain a membership at both, they just have so much info that folks still use and need on both platforms.

It would be nice to have a basic understanding of how to really see it's the injectors, but at $305 a set whats the sense. And the ones he had were pulled and tested I thought how could it be those a 3rd time. Guessing here decent software could be $50, plus $20 for a cable, still need to have someone else help figure it out already probably half way the cost of the RV275 if you add it all up.

When I got over to look at their approach it was vastly different for sure, I was pretty impressed even if it's not the fix there is a lot to offer 2nd Gen folks on there for sure, which is a good thing.

Joe, some info if you did not already know. The person that designed the tach segments was probably on drugs. Between 500 and 1k are 3 smaller marks that come out to 125rpm each so 500,625,750,875,1k. Mine idles pretty much in the middle of the last 2 shorter lines between 750 and 875 with minor fluctuating. These are the stock injectors.

Hopefully this will work and you'll be able to look at 9 the videos I put on You Tube...guess we'll see

Apparently it appears that 1 - 5 somehow ended up on this post as a clickable video and 6 - 9 clickable link to the video. My head is spinning and at least I think it all worked.

I must apologize for cursing in some of the videos, you can sense the frustration. Enjoy.

Had the same stall problem in my 99 stalling when put in to gear. I changed the oil pressure sensor. Problem went away. There is a 5v wire off the sensor that talks to the ecm. Mine was a intermittent problem. Has not acted up since.

Watching your tach you idle at least 50rpm less than my stock injector with 95k on them. Does that matter, I dunno.

Wow, never thought of that. And, just realized for some years now if I put into gear after starting and before the oil pressure gage read at least 20# it would rump, rump a few times then settle out. BTW: I replaced the original oil pressure sensor probably 10+ years back. Will have to see if Cummins has one in stock...
If that's it I'll most likely not have to install the new RV275's that are supposed to arrive Monday. If the new oil pressure sender does the trick you'll see the new in box injectors on the classifieds...
Thanks2Farr - wouldn't have thought about that had you not mentioned. More to come....

Not to rain on the parade but that 5vdc from the ECM goes to a lot of places and splices in the loom with individual feed backs to the ECM. If your oil pressure is reading I would highly doubt it is a problem and now throwing money and parts at it. Could it be one of the crummy splices, yes it could and moving things around could help or cause a problem. My opinion that does not really mean anything is to change the injectors and see what happens before throwing more money into the pit.

Ahhhhh David, the voice of reason. Thank you sir. Test injectors to be installed before any further efforts. Injectors were when all this began...

Started to laugh when I read that - Years ago had issues in a 95 Neon. Finally it just quit. Found the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) shorted the 5V reference, which was also shared by other sensors - including the Cam AND Crank sensors....sigh. Replaced VSS and all was happy. Gave the car to my son - Not quite 250K on it. 3 generations have owned that car.

Thing that sucks is I'm down 150rwhp and 300rwtq.
Sent same videos to Flux and a note asking basically what has changed from the Mach 5s of 17-18 years ago?
Their reply:

"My apologies Joe, I was suppose to forward this to you from Don last week:

We checked the opening pressure on the inj returned from Joe. Basically 295 bar on all 6. I suggest we lower that to 280 across all 6 and send those to him. I believe this is the last step we can take to increase the idle quantity and to help prevent stalling."

Any thoughts welcomed

Mopar1973Man, feels what Flux is suggesting makes sense, due to their nozzle design. So we'll see what happens next. Getting a bit tired of swapping injectors but if it gets "my truck" back I'm in. And if not at least I have the 275s...

Yep you needed a win for sure. Lots of work on this one.

From what I gather in the M73M thread wonder if Flex has any reccomended timing adjustments if the 280bar does not work. It seemed like M73M had similar issues on a +100hp set that needed additional adjustments.

After tossing in the 280bar flex ones, and let's hope they work,, but say they don't, I really would say you could benefit from someone familiar with tuning can plug in and watch the live data and is knowledgeable and maybe has a tuning session open to do some tweaks.

I don't know these folks but know of them, probably reccomended them before they are around the corner from a good friend's electrical shop, they talk highly of them at the shop.

Being such a small industry they might know of a similar shop closer to you who could possibly help on that part for you.

Tim, Thanks for the tip on Black Smoke link saved. Clinton isn't that far from where I'm moving to (Lords Valley, PA), at least on the way I see signs for Clinton. Heck I drove 6 hours to get recent work done so Clinton ain't that far. I am so hopeful the 280BAR Flex's work. If not I'll see if Black Smoke can set pop-offs or recommend a shop that can.
