Here is a link that came across the Stock/Superstock Group I am a member of. Its a link to a article on a famous Local Funny Car showman who we lost in a automobile accident. At the Time he was the premier showman on the East coast and was beginning to gain national attention. I can remember as a kid meeting him at Numidia Drag-A-Way and still have that autographed t-shirt and Super Stock and Drag Illistrated book yet today.

Many say he was ahead of his time and I still think if you ever seen him you will agree with that and conclude that there are none like him today. Many try and imitate what he brought to the funny car world but still can not copy what he did. His loss shook the drag racing world on the East Coast very hard... ... .

That man was none other than "Jungle Jim" Liberman... ... ... Andy

We were going over a bunch of old race pictures the other day and came across a couple of pics of him and wondered what ever happened to him. the pics were from the mid 60's through 70's and what a bunch of memories they brought back!

My father and I were at the summer nats. at raceway park for the 2007 race.

At the end of the track there is Beer tent/building and I got to meet Pam for the first time and my father and I were able to buy her more than a FEW drinks and talk for about a half hour, she is a really nice person to talk to, very friendly:)

Even though she was known to be at the starting line in her high heels and tight pants back then at a younger age, I think she would still be able to pull it off now:-laf

Michael

He was a showman and the fans got their moneys worth when Pam and him were there. The very first time I seen him was at the old Pocono Drag Lodge out by Bear Creek when my Dad took me there when he was racing his old B/Gas 55 Chevy. Jungle was running the old 68 Nova and was match racing a yellow Mustang called "The Frantic Ford". I was hooked then and when I finally got to meet some some years later it was neat to see how nice he was.

Yep,we have Force and Scelzi now but Jungle still remains supreme in my book. In all the years I have been going to drag races I have only ever met one racer cut from the same mold as Jungle and thats a alcohol funny car racer by the name of Scott Weney.

And as for Pam there Picaso... . You are very right... ... ... Andy

Kevin. .

Jungle had many cars and some have been restored and are around.

"Berserko Bob" Doerrer has the last Monza and has restored it. Someone out here in the East has his old Pro stock Vega Wagon(a car which he never drove Dutch Irrgang wheeled it). His cars were many, his tales were wide and his legend still lives on yet today. Here are a couple more links for those "Jungle" fans..... Andy

BTW... "Berserko Bob" still has ties with the flopper crowd helping Bob Gilbertson.

Hey Hammer- your location is Drag Racing holy ground! Were you there when all the action took place! That must have been real wild!

What is the Stock, S/S group you mention?

Wayne. .

Where was I when all the action was going on you ask?????

Why I was a young lad hanging on my Fathers coat tail and going to the drag races with him while he ran his M/P 57 Chevy or when he helped Bill Tanger with his "Thunderball" superstock 55 Chevy. They ran all the local dives,Maple Grove,Cecil County,Pocono Drag Lodge,Numidia and York US30 to name a few. York was the home track as we lived only 5 minutes from it and I can still remember those 4 car pro stock and superstock bashes. Ah,those were the days my friend... ..... Andy

P. S. -Here is a link to the Yahoo Stock/Superstock group which I chat about.

And you Dad was whom... ? A former boss of mine was a mechanic for Paul Blevins and stayed with him through Pro Stock. I have some SS/DI back issues, and I can't believe some stuff that went on there. Yhea, I was at the Funny Car reunion at Raceway park and saw all the good stuff there!
