friend has 12 valve with auto trans 4x4 ext cab. the paint isnt so good but mostly just uv damage i believe because its in cali with egr. interior is a little rugged. what do you think would it be worth it to put a built trans and remove the egr stuff maybee injectors and a new turbo or two. is this just gonna be a money pit?all things are i guess.

I put 325k on an '01 then sold it to my son-in-law. It was all highway miles, mostly towing, and well-maintained with quality oil and filters. Still in excellent shape at 350k miles. My daughter was using it yesterday to haul abandoned furniture away from a rental property.

A 300k mile Dodge-Cummins could have 600,000 miles of service left or be a pile of worn out parts. Depends entirely on how it was used and serviced.

I am currently going through my '98 with 250K... as long as the KDP has been done the motor is the least of your worries... look at the rearend... mines loose and needs cash thrown at it, interior stuff can be had still I bought some nice used stuff for mine... trans is going to be about 2500/4000 depends how far you go with it on the rebuild... . I had to replace everything that had to do with steering under the front end and do the upgrades to make it live. . chaching$... . a good brake job, hope your bearings are good front and back... drivelines?... how rough is the body beyond a quick sand and reshoot? door hinges shot?... ... still cheaper than a new truck and once sorted out will go another 250 with no hassles. now go get it and get started, lol.

peace, B.

Front definitlly needs work it squeks like at twitty bird. Gotta check the kdp. For sure cheaper than new truck. I would want to throw new trans and turbos on that. Had an 06 with Tst and other goodies and never got around to a trans this truck it will be mandatory
