Just got back from Diesel Thunder in Spokane Wa. and am tickled pink as my truck ran 4 runs on the dyno at over 300rwhp with the best @ 308 and 691ftlb's. :D :D with Old Smoky riding shot gun with me.

Did a 306hp and was happy with that run when Power Wagon was looking over pump and asking how I can turn the rpm's I was turning ( 3600 rpm's :D ) when he noticed my pump boost banjo bolt loose. ( I forgot to tighten it after turning pump up some. It was big time loose. No I didn't max the screw in all the way so there is some more power left in the ve 44. )

I mentioned the loose bolt to Jason Burton from North West Custom who was partly responsible for putting Diesel Thunder on. Jason asked if the shop ( Shelley's Auto ) would let me run again at the end of the runs to see if I had alittle more for the dyno and try for a torque number as the computer didn't get any prior. I only gained 2 hp from the loss of boost but it would have bugged me if I hadn't run again and at least that time it picked up the torque numbers.

Also Bob Bauchane posted respectable numbers. 247hp I believe in his nice 1 st gen. Only the two of us 1st gens ran.

Did get to ride shot gun in 2 other trucks, Jasons truck ran 500hp on #2 only and Heberam's truck ran 626hp with the nitros bottle that ran empty and maxing the dyno out on torgue. Should have heard his truck idle. It sounds so meaty like a big block solid cam race car. It shook big time.

Check out competition forum for 1/4 mile fun.

This can't stand too long, though,

HDM48's truck is shooting for 350HP :)

I guess I need to get up from 220 to about 260, so I can keep up with you on the track :)

My 16. 087 ain't quite enough match your 15. 1 :)

All in all, first gen trucks are were pretty good competition on 1/4 mile for the non-drugged 2nd gen's. Mostly, though, it's a matter of auto vs stick. Unless you're one heck of a shifter, the auto's a winner. Diesel Freak had a LOT of horsepower on me, and at around 1/3-1/2 track, I had put a LOT of space on him, and it was all about shifting. Of course, at the end, he had 8 MPH on me, but only . 15 second.

Hey Mark

You got the HP right 247 - torque was 578. The numbers made me happy:D :D :D . Well if 247 is good I guess I need to shoot for more. BTW PM me with your address and I will ship you a copy of the recordings I made. They came out pretty good although most are from the rear - yes your first run is on there and most of the Dodges on "drugs":D

Bob

Excellent #'s there 'wildman mark' ;) ;)

Do I dare ask what your EGT's were like>???? I hear you need a EGT gauge that reads 2000*F min. eh... . ;) ;) darn crazy canuck. .

Way to go bud!!!!

hdm48 lets get with the program here ehhh... . ;) ;)

Ohhh Bob... . not to shabby your own self...

The good thing about being slightly behind is you always get to look forward the whole time, when your 1st, you gotta keep looking back... .

Congrats on the numbers guys, you keep us in game with what your doing, and the rest of us stay focused. .

Geezz, no rest for the wicked.....

now, were'd I leave that cover and P-pump.....

Thanks guy's.

Yes, big grins for sure. Leaves a good feeling knowing you backed up what you said.

Yes, to date I have not been beaten on the street and only lost 1 of 2 races with a 500hp truck. Dam - Jason. :p :D lol

Grins - You bet - it took me 4 hours to come back down to earth:D Thanks for the "kudos". I probably will not try for the top - just for good respectable numbers. I would like to get her over 250 and 600 though. That gives me something to do over the winter. ;)

Bob:)

Congrats... . Mark I was there and you surely suprised a lot of fokes. . Had a great time and meeting you... good luck on the 400+ project. . :D

Steve

Thanks Steve,

Guy's you should see HeberRam's truck.

Now for the sound. It is the most sweet sounding truck you are ever going to hear. I'm still hearing that big block rumble in my head. :p Sounds like no other truck you have heard. Really injoyed talking with you and riding shot gun in your killer truck.

Dam NOS hey. We could have turned 700 hp for sure. Nothing wrong with 626hp though.

Some how I don't think I will ever catch your truck on hp but 400 is next for sure. It won't be long. :D :D ;)

I sure was inpressed with Mark's pickup, especially on the track. It was great watching him spank the 2nd gens! Way to go man!

Mike

Hey Mike,

Installed your "Old Smoky" (young smoky ;) ) mount with my K&N which worked good with alittle work. Can really hear that turbo now. Nice product and will work out well for what i have in mind for the future.

Injoyed talking with you and seeing your truck.

mark

It's good to hear that you got your K&N to work with the BHAF mount. You just have to customize everything, don’t you? :p I would like to see what the finished design looks like. You gotta love that turbo whine! Everyone who has seen the intercooler boots likes the idea, and the way they look. I wonder what is going to happen when you "find" more fuel. Good talking to you.

Mike

not to brag and not to flame, but it seems your guys torque is a little low??? before i pulled out my rotary pump motor i dynoed it. i had 215hp and 800tq at the ground. truck was non intercooled and the pyro gently warmed up and boost with a hx35 was 40psi. stock injectors, custom intake manifold and the power screw backed off just enough to keep her from running away like the old detroits.

unless the is a tradeoff for hp vs tq???

i'd rather have torque, that is what a cummins is all about!

it would be nice to find a cheap conversion, then i would put that motor back to work.

ridiculous question of the day

Mark, Bob,

What do you guy's get for mileage with that kind of power?

You know, Day to day mileage loaded and unloaded.

Thanks,

Stevie G

Awesome numbers guys!! :D

Good to see some first gens kickin' hiney!:D

Now I have to tell my Phord buddy that there's hope for my truck yet!!

Ray

I don't have any astounding horsepower, but my trip up to Spokane, my running around there, runs down the track, and then back home got me the following:

489 miles

23. 95 gallons of fuel.

There is some trade off and many other factors invovled.

The more hp you make the higher the stall will be of the tc.

Tire size comes into play.

Gearing.

Running gear oil weight.

Auto trans= 20% loss on average.

Std trans=15%-17% on average.

Dyno.

Drive line shape and angles.

These are just some of the factors.

Stevie,

I put 29. 05 us gal in and ran 483. 43 miles.

Keep in mind I drove from Canada to Idaho then Spokane at mostly between 80-100 mph. :p with a ( fat ) setting on pump and 4 dyno runs, 3 crowd pleasing smoky burnouts, 4- 1/4mile races and hot doging around town. :D

So i only got 16. 64 miles-per-us-gal
