I am ordering the 3k GSK kit. My first and only BOMB. Engine is bone stock except for a starwheel adj. Gauges will come in April.



Will I have egt issues?I drive the truck very conservatively but when jumping in I-85 traffic it just peters out @ 2300 rpm.

Also what is this talking about? Is this a 4k issue?



NOTE: Only recommended for use with the TST #4 (in 160, 175, or 180HP engines) or #10 (in 215HP engines) plates and are for competition use only. Two sets of valve springs (listed below, are highly recommended for the 4000 RPM kit).

Hey dude!

Buy the 4k GSK kit and just install the 3k springs for now, hold on to the extra gov springs for when you get the heavy duty valve springs needed for the higher rpm's. Yes, you will probably have egt issues even with fuel plate in stock position. My friend had 4k GSK in his '95 with the heavy valve springs and it ROCKS to have the exra rpm!

I was hoping with the stock fuel plate the higher rpm's would keep egt's cooler with stock plate.
Will be getting close to transmission time soon !!!!

Better off modified baby.

Mystery switch is a way to keep the torque converter locked up.

When used improperly the mystery switch can cause excessive premature damage to the transmission.

I installed the 3K GSK on my '98 for just the reason you indicated; accelerating onto the freeway while pulling my RV.



EGT's do climb faster but you only need the extra RPM for a fairly short time while getting up the speed so it usually doesn't pose a problem.



When I ordered my 3K GSK, it came with the extra spring for 4K. I didn't use it, 3K was adequate for my purposes.

MY EGTs went down 50-100 degrees towing when I added a BHAF. I don't know if it would help on a stock plate. I got 185K out of my 47re but the #6 plate installed at 116K would slip the transmission in OD towing at over 24# boost from day one. I wish I had done the GSK and the transmission mods earlier.
 
As y'all can probably tell the bug has bit me after owning this 96 mod since 99. I made almost 8 full years running stock. I sure hope the money holds up. Thinking about a second job just to keep up with my insaneness.

When going to a call with the Volunteer Fire Dept. running 75 mph in a 55 zone with a deputy (blues on) right on my tail only fuels this want to BOMB. How many have ever smoked the law without getting new bracelets.

LOL really.
P. S. We are instructed in fire class to never break any laws going to a call. NO SPEEDING.
