Yes, you are disagreeing. :)

And for a 14cm housing you may be correct, but for the stock 12cm housing I think the stock exhaust system is adequate.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I agree it may not be needed for a 12/cm housing. But I think it's needed for a 14/cm housing and above.

I am still mostly stock with only a DDEZ and the stock 3" exhaust with the muffler straight piped. I can get the egt to almost 1200 with the stock 18 lbs. of boost on a long grade, but when I put the boost elbow in that came with my DDEZ, 1000 degrees is all I can get it up to on the same grade. With the elbow my boost goes up to 29 to 30 psi.

Just thought I would share my experience concerning running the boost elbow vs. stock boost. For me it looks like it is worth a 200 degree drop with my combination.

jlccc,

I posted the same thing repetedly in the past for 24v's. I have run my truck up to 410hp and 430hp using the stock 3" exhaust pipe, but with no muffler or resonator. I even had the stock HX35/12 combo. Setting the truck at 320hp and towing 4500lbs I had no egt problems.

I feel the 3" with a free-flowing muffler is perfectly fine for any situation up to 350hp.
