I did not see either of those listed in metric sizes for 17" wheels on either link. The difference in diameter between 305s and 315s assuming a 70% apsect ratio and 17" wheel is about . 5", they are like 34" for the 305s and 34. 6" for the 315s. I would think the 315s would be easier to find if you ever needed a replacement in a hurry as it is more of standard size.

CClements.

It depends on your gearing (3. 73 or 4. 10's)and towing loads. If you have 4. 10s and tow med(5-6k) loads and with your 48re i would choose 315's. Towing a full GCVWR i would get the 305's with a strong e-rated sidewall.

If you have 3. 73s with your 48re i would go no larger than 305's.

this all changes with a 6 spd. 315's all the way. I have 3. 73's and 315's and 6 spd and love the gearing although it is a little much for the 48re.

Goodyear makes a 305/70/17 MTR and it has a very stiff sidewall. Most likely superior to the Coopers( i love the coopers on my wifes car and hope the sidewalls are beefy enough for our loads)

Hope this helps

I forgott to mention that I live in Northern Michigan and do lots of miles in the snow. I've always got a load but's almost never over 1300 pounds.

I've always assumed that a 33/ 12. 50 /17 is practically the same as a 305/70/17 correct me if I'm wrong.

I have 373 gears

The BFG A/T's in 315 are absolutely wonderful in the snow. Best tires I have ever had and totally night and day from the stock Rugged Trail (rugged street???) tires.

I would like to see them make some 75 series tires for the 17" rims.

I have 3. 73s, 48re and 315's and would not change a thing. . I tow frequently with out problems. Just preference on the 305's or 315's. :D
