Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 30lb without boost fooler ?

I've been told that the 98. 5 24v's dont require a boost fooler. Is this correct? See sig for full details but I'm seeing ~ 30lbs of boost.

Yes, they need it too. If the computer sees >21psi, it will defuel.

Keith, so does this mean that my old style Van Aaken is acting as a boost fooler? The truck seems to defuel after 22 or so lbs like you said.

Whats the best fix for this Keith? Looking to put injectors on in the near future and want to get the boost fooler taken care of before I put injectors on. Thanks for the help.

Honestly, and not to sound like I'm trying to sell you something, but we never did like the timing curves in the VA box. Even the original EZ was too much for our liking with injectors, so we built the True Torque Program (reprogrammed EZ Edge box) which offers better power, performance, mileage and has the boost module built in.



If you wanted to just add a boost module, by themselves they run $300, so bang-for-the-buck would be to swap your VA for a TTPM box.

One more question for ya Keith, If I were to add the boost module to my existing old style VA, could a fueling only box such as a TST PM3 be added?

You could, but if you wanted a major fueling box (taps the pump wire), why not just go with our Ultimate that gives you all of it in one box with smoke control?

If all you want is a Boost Module then check out Practical Solutions Diesel Products for a inexpensive fix.

There would not be a problem adding a fuel only box to the VA or the EZ.

The plugs and MAP limits are different between your 98. 5 and the 2001.

BD has got a fooler for about half what Practical Solutions costs. Asuming that they both just give you a elbow , and plug in line on the map .
