Dealer finally priced the truck today at just under $31,000. 2005, 4x4, quad cab, auto, 4.10 gears, shortbed, in excellent condition. Interior is like new( seat covers since new). Your thoughts on it?

You should have posted in your original thread: https://www.turbodieselregister.com...g-at-new-to-me-2005-2500-Quick-replies-please

As for buying a 10 year old vehicle with 65K miles, needing tires, etc. costing the same as it did new....no way, but then again I cannot see paying $50K+ for a new pickup either. The market will dictate the price range. If you think it is the best truck for you and its $20K less than a new one then try to talk them down to book value or below and buy it. For that kind of money does it come with any warranty?

I've probably said it a dozen times on this board in the last few years. The pre-emissions 5.9's are pulling insane prices here in PA. If you can find one not rotted away, they are going to demand top dollar.

I don't dare to put the Mega Cab up for sale for two reasons...

1) It will bring just stupid money and I would have a hard time saying no.....

2) I'd have to find a new one to replace it....

I drove JHenderson's new truck the other day and have the tiniest urge to test the waters......if I hadn't already gone nuts with a Zero-Turn, a Can-Am and then a trailer to put the stupid Can-Am in this year I would probably already be on the hunt.....

Mike, I cured the new truck desire by buying the new van. But, I was parked next to a new ram 3500 last night in Timberline Green. Darn thing looked good.

Seriously, it would be very hard to replicate the '06. My ONLY complaint with it currently is the seating as it will just about cripple the wife after an hour of riding. I can stand a little more if I take my wallet out of my pocket but still limping when I get out of it after a couple hundred miles. It seems to affect my left hip for some reason.

We have discussed the National Seat upgrade in earnest after she sat in Ozy and Steffi's truck at the house. Probably will happen by spring.

Mine stickered for 42, and I walked out with it all done at 37. It is unreal. And yes the marked in central pa is nuts. I don't know where they bring em in from but there are some real clean ones out there.

I have a close friend that runs a body shop here. His focus is mainly on Fords, but he has done a few Dodge products over the years. He also has a small used car dealership. He finds them as far away as Texas but usually buys from Georgia, South Carolina, etc. Buys them, does a few little things to them to make them mechanically good to go, and flips them. There's just such a huge demand for rust free trucks, that he usually has them sold before they have even arrived in PA.

Yep. Tack 5k or so on that blue truck for the price in our area. The second one you listed is 2 wheel drive. It would be a tough sell here.

Perfect reason to buy a new truck. Spend some of that money to shrink your wallet down. Easier on the hips with an empty wallet in your back pocket!!

Oh, the wife said during our last trip as she's clutching her back.."It's really something when the seats in an off road Can-Am are twice as good as the one's in this frigin' truck!!!"....

So the groundwork for new seats is already in place....:D

I don't think I could spend $31,000 on a 10 year old truck. I have ridden in a 2004 and it was so much noisier than my 2009, didn't have the integrated exhaust brake or 6 speed transmission.
If I drove a newer truck I would just want one all the more...... So I resist the temptation. MY brothers 2012 is leaps and bounds nicer than my 2009....
It also helps that I just spent some big bucks putting new tires and high end ball joints on my pickup and it is really driving nice right now - no real sane reason to look at another one. If I did it would have to be a 2014 or newer and those are still way too much for a used truck.
