There are a few guys running the 305's on the chrome 6. 5" stock wheels in a thread a while back. IMO the widest I would go on the stock chrome 6. 5" wheels is a 285. If you have the newer 8" alloy wheels the 305 or 315 should be fine.

After much deliberation and discussion with others, I decided to go with 255/85-16 Dunlop Radial Rover RVs. Being installed as I type this, so I can't even tell you how they ride yet. I still want to go to the 315s later on, but can't change wheels now. I talked to a few about 285/75s, but didn't get the impression that they worked well at all on a 6. 5" rim. The 255/85s are the same height (. 7% difference), and will probably work better in my application, which is mostly highway and very little flotation situations. They're D rated (3000# single), which is higher than the 265 Michelens they are replacing. Decent price as well. Hopefully I can get some digital pics of the new look to add to the website soon.

BFG 315/75-16 All Terrians

I had four new 315/75-16's mounted on my stock steel rims in December 2000. I like the tires, they fill the wheel well real well. The only experience I've found is that they do rub slightly on the rear of the plastic fender insert when turning and the truck is on an uphill angle and the tires rub on the A-arm when making fully locked out turning movements, otherwise I haven't had any other problems. My truck is not lifted and I haven't done any four wheeling since the tires were installed.

315s on a the factory alum wheel rub on the control arm before full steering lock - at least they do on my '00.

255s on the stock steel rim work great IMO - had them on my '96.

285/75's work GREAT!!!! I had them on the steel 6. 5" wheels and put about 45K on a set of BFG's and they still had 10-15K left on them. Wore VERY evenly.

Stephan,

Do you think the bigger tires will help your ET's at the track ;)

They will sure help top end, all you need is enough fueling to get them rollin' off the line , and I'm sure that's not a problem.
