315/75-16 ? Will they fit

Hey Everyone,



I'm thinking of putting on a set of 315/75-16 tires. Any problems with clearance on a Y2K 2500 LB QC 4WD?

315/75/16's will rub in front without a lift. BUT, since our fender wells are so HUGE, you only need 2" lift to clear them. The Daystar spacers work well as do the Skyjacker D25 coils. Also, the stock 6. 5" wide wheels are a smidge too narrow for 315's if you want good tread life out of them. 16x8 should be considered a minimum wheel size, IMHO.



305/70/16's and 295/75/16's will fit with no lift BTW.

I just had the 2" spacer kit from Jack-It (jackit.com) installed, they look great and they had the best price I found anywhere. I did this done before I had the Cooper Discover AT 315x75x16's installed because of previous posts about rubbing without the spacer. I had them mounted on the America Racing 'Tyrant' 16x8 wheels. Those who have seen my truck since Friday say they look GREAT. I thank so too.

The 315's will not rub all the time, only when turning, and then they'll rub through your fender liners without a lift.



I'm not sure, but I think they'll rub on the bottom 2 arms of the 4 link when turned to the lock if mounted on the stock 8" wide rims. Again, the lift will take care of this... and if it doesn't, just don't turn all the way to the lock.



I haven't installed 315's on my truck, but I've seen the effects of 315's with no lift first hand... lift it and avoid the headaches... JMHO. Besides, it'll look cooler!

I have 315s on a stock '00 2500 - factory alum wheels. The tires rub on the control arms BEFORE full steering lock - limits turning radius. I have not had a problem with the tires rubbing the fenders or fender well liners but I don't use my truck hard off-road.



Do the coil spacers really change the angle on the control arms enough to eliminate tire rub with 315s? Do you have to install a longer lower control arm in order to maintain caster?



What I really want is a 35x11x16 (275/90R16 Load Range E) to keep from rubbing on the darn control arms.

Maybe I'll stick with the 305/70-16's for now, they only rub with the wheel cranked lock to lock that's it...

With the 2" spacers from Jack-It there is NO rub at all.

315's work for me

I have the 315's on my stock 8" wheels with no lift and they have never rubbed on the fender wells. They only rub at full lock. This is a minor inconvenience to me so I am happy. With aftermarket wheels (more offset), they will rub in the fender wells, BTW.

I agree with Chipstien... I am on my 3rd set of 315's on 8x16 wheels (2500 4x4) and they only touch the rear part of fender liners during full lock turns. Minor problem. I would guess they'll rub through after 20 or 30 sets of tires. They never touch the control arms with no lift kit installed.

I've got 315's on the stock rims on my truck. I concur with what has been said above-they rub the control arms on tight turns but don't touch anywhere else.....

2" jak-it kit ?

Do I need to replace my shocks if I ues the 2" jak-it kit. I currently have rancho rs9000 shocks?

With the Rancho's I don't think they will need to be replaced. I replaced mine because I had 47k on truck and I thought 'while in there, why not do it now' and both shocks were less than $60. Jack-it is a company located in West Valley City, UT. Their phone is 801-974-7960, I talked with 'Jared'.
