315/75r16 BFG's on stock truck

I'm wondering if anyone knows if 315/75r16 bfg's will fit on my truck w/the stock 16x8 aluminum wheels? I know that the wheels are a little on the narrow side, but that is OK for now. I just want to know if they are going to rub stock and if they do, how bad? I've been told that they will, but they won't w/2" coil spring spacers, Is that true? Or were they trying to talk me out of more money?

I looked into this last year when I was shopping for tires. (Unfortunately I have 6. 5" wheels and settled for 255/85-16. ) From what I gathered, they will rub a little in sharp turns or bumpy turns, but not that bad. Several people who were running them at stock height chimed in. Everybody said that a 2" kit in front would stop the rubbing.

Do you have a 4X4? if so update your sig. 315's will rub w/o 2 inch spacers on a 4X4 forget about it on a 2X4 your best bet is 295's and buy a used for a spare as this is the biggest spare that will fit under the back. or get spacers as the 315 w/2in lift look great.

I run 315/75R16 Americas Tire Pathfinder ATRs on my stock alum wheels - '00 2500 4wd. The tires rub on the control arms before full steering lock - curable by adjusting the stops. I do not have a problem with the tires rubbing the fender but I also don't 'use' my truck off-road.

The stock 16 x 8 wheels may not be too narrow for a 315 - a lot of guys are running this combo. Check with the tire manufacturer you're looking at - maybe on their website. My Denman 305's recommend a 16 x 8 and a 315 is only 10mm wider. Recommendations may be a range like 8. 0-10. 0 or a single size like 8. 5. Worth a quick check.

315's will rub on the lower control arm at full lock. still gotta lift mine to see if it stops. they sure look good though.

I have 295's and have no rub at full lock w/ 8 inch rims.



One note though. You will wear out the centers of the tires sooner with an 8" narrow rim unless you run the tires dangerously under inflated. I run mine at 48 to 53 psi and they seem to be wearing evenly but they are also not as wide as the 315's.

I've been looking for and asking mfgs for a 8 1/2 to 9" Rim and no one makes one that i can find ( In aluminum that is ) The closest one is the Centerline thrusters that are 9 1/2 inches. I'm sure if you get a pair of those you are set in terms of width but you would also be in dire need of fender flares :{

I have the 315 BFGs on my 99 2500 4x4... 3rd set of 315s on 8 inch wheels. They rub a little on the plastic fender liner during full turns and high opposite wheel angle (LF up with RR down or vice-versa). . over all not a big deal. I really like the fit of the tire on the truck.

I run 36 x 12. 5s on the stock 16 x 8s with no visible wear problems yet. The shop that did my work said that my 16 x 8 was as small as they'd recommend, but that it would be ok.



The stock wheels are forged, so they are probably of ok strength, and I like the way they look. Most importantly, replacing them with anything better would have cost me at least $1,500 and probably more for the six I need (I carry two spare tires).



I have a lift and flares, so I can't speak to the clearance and coverage issues, but I suspect you might want flares even with the stock wheels.

Where do you get the 2" coil spring spacers, and how hard are they to install? I also am looking at the 315's. I would like to put them on some American Racing 'Tyrant' wheels (not chrome), they are available in 8" and 10" wide and was wondering about uneven wear on the 8". Does anyone have the 'Tyrant' wheels, (picures)? Any info would be appreciated.

If you are putting them on a 4X4, they only touch the control arms at full lock. Not a big deal since only the extreme outer edges of the traction lugs touch. take a look at my Gallery link below.

I run 45psi front and 35psi out back. I don't tow anything so I just calculated the inflation pressure based on the front/rear weights. I think the MAX cold psi on these tires is 50lbs.
