Competition The rumors are true....

Competition Rented Dragstrip Nov. 24

I understand they will fit the front with some rubbing. But, I need to know if they will rub each other on the back. I believe the rims are 6" (correct me if I am wrong) and have 2" spacers on there now and it looks a little goofy with my 255/85's... Does anyone else have or seen this setup before? I cant find the truck I swear that had it..... I cant afford new rims at the same time as my tire purchase so I want to make this work till spring.

Those tires with that spacer should be fine. I am running 37x12. 50R16 Swamper SSRs with a 2" Arrowcraft spacer in the rear on 16x6 Alcoas and they don't rub at all. Of course, the inner wheel is the stock steelie 16x6. I think I have about 1/2 to 1" of gap between the sidewalls. I had a little control arm rubbing issues in the front until I put the DynaTrac free-spin hub conversion on the truck and that moved the wheels out about a couple inches, not sure exactly how much but they don't rub the arms anymore on sharp turns. Hope this helps... .

Didnt make it down there tonight... but I will go down tommorrow and test fit. They should be fine..... the 315's are 11. 92 wide by the book.

could you run the 255's on the stock 99 rims without them touching in the rear ...

i'm gonna buy some fenders and make my '01 a dually shortbed, just waiting on a set of rims ... people have said that the pre '01 rims will not space the 255's far enough apart so i have passed on a couple of sets

Yeah the 99 6" rims with no spacer were wide enough for the tires to not touch. The bigger 315's fit about the same with a 2" spacer inbetween them. Sorry I dont have any pics... . my camera took a dump. I will put some on soon though.

Doug, Please post some photo's and more info. I have the crazy idea in my head to go with a second gen dually if I ever change my set up. Thanks!!

Dave

PS Is your truck lifted?

May sound crazy... but I have seen and heard of guys running non dually wheels in the front of the truck with 315's, and then dually rims with a spacer in the rear with 315's. I need some dually feedback. Would this work with out a lift or will things still rub. Factory height truck, same tire set up as you in the rear but steel 3/4 ton rims in front?

Kind of confusing but...

Dave

doug455, would the non dual rims with these tires rub(rims off of a 2500)?? The front axle of a 3500 is different than a 2500, with the hub being for a dually rims set up.

Boy I dunno if the front would rub or not... . The dual rims have such a crazy offset. They will stick out really bad in the front. Its impossible to run regular rims on the back. you would need like a 1 foot spacer.

There is alot of trucks that run that setup though. Regular rim up front (16x8) and 16X6 in the rear.

What rubs on mine is the outside of the tire rubbing the middle area of the wheelwel. Only on hard turns with the sterring wheel cranked and going up a curb or very steep driveway from flat ground. l

Does anyone here have any issues with the 315/75/16 tire on a 6 inch wide rim??? Any problems, any misfits issues? I have been told to not put tires that wide on dually 6 inch rims. any feed back would be great!!

Dave

Doug, that is one NICE truck. Is that setup possible without the 5 inches, or is there something smaller than 5. I want those tires, that look, everything but the height(which I like but can't afford). I need to find the truck, the spacer and go from there!! Again, looks really nice. Is it for sale?? :-laf :-laf

The tires fit but rubbed with no lift. There is a 2" leveling kit you can buy for the front but I'm not sure if thats enough room. Here are some better side pics of the tires with a 5" lift.

Doug, I have a few other posts on this site about big tires on a dual wheel trucks. I was wondering what brand/model/size spacer you are running? Where did you get them and how much were they. In my other posts the spacers were the arrowcrafts and they were around 225 a set. thanks
