315 questions

Has anyone tried the 315 Coopers and if so how are they to balance? I currently have BFG 315 and I have not had any issues with the D/W with these tires but with this set they had a very hard time getting them balanced. I have a new truck on order which is a 2wd and I am wondering if the 315 would be too big for a 2wd.

Any thoughts?

Where all 4 tires hard to balance? I had 2 sets on my '03 2500 4X4 and never had that issue. (The first set went up in smoke ) I've got a set on (16") on my 96 and I've got a set on my '02 and never had that issue. I had a bulge on a sidewall and they replaced it N/C. I think they should get you another tire(s?) if they can't balance them or have to much weight to balance them.

No the current set up I have on the truck now is with BFG 315 and when I had a vibration at 65 mph they tried to re-balance and found out they were way off from each tire. Discount tire took care of the problem------I got 4 new tire after 6000 miles-----so my question is has anyone tried the Coopers and if so how were they

i'd like to know if coopers new mud tire is good too. i'm going to be switching pretty soon. i wonder if they wear good?

I've had problems with my BFG's and an inordinate amount of weight necessary to balance one tire(9 ounces). Discount refuses to admit there is a problem with this tire,even though all other tires take a maximum of two ounces. What gives? They are well built but the installers admit there is no pattern to the balancing. Also, I keep losing the weights on this tire and look forward to my fourth visit to Discount

I have a set of Cooper 315 ATR's and no issues yet, balance well, quiet, and good traction. They just are not as aggressive as a mud tire like the Toyo MT.

my 315 bfg's balanced very well considering i only have weights on the inside lip. one has no weights, the other 3 have very little weight [one slightly more than the other 2]

What are the advantages of going to a 315 tire? Does it have any effect on the 70 mph Vibration issue?

i have 315's on my 04. 5 2wd. no major issues. inside of the pass tire rubs on the smooth edge of the track bar. they rub the wheel well lines now and then on hard fast bumps. but its just a tiny bit.



a leveling kit would be good, but i dont want one so it will stay this way.



i had problems with one tire balancing. the others took harly any weights. they didnt want to swap the tire on the rim so i just told them to put as much weight as needed. the bfg's having the rim saver on them makes it a lot harder to throw a weight.

Yeah harder to put weights on to balance them too.



I'm happy with my BFGs. I have about 6000 miles on them and they still look brand new.

Is it just for appearance or does the truck handle better/different?

The benefit is off road. The increased ground clearance and the way a taller tire rolls over obstacles easier,more flex. The down sides... . more expensive. weaker sidewall,more flex.

I'd say they will last longer compared to a smaller tire since it's rotating less times per mile

My truck rides better, sits up where it's a little safer in a wreck or hitting a deer, plus the truck seems to accelorate quicker with the bigger tires. Gets the best torque in the best zones I guess.
