Does anyone know if the 315's on stock 17 inch 3rd gen fit on my 2nd gen. I have been told the wheels will fit but will that much rubber fit without rubbing anything?
Banks had a demo truck a couple of years ago with 35's (315's) that they claimed had no lift. The guy said it didn't rub unless the truck was at a bad angle with the wheels turned. I've run 33's (305's) with no lift and no rubbing. If I were going to run 315's on a 2G I would add a leveling kit just to be safe.
I have 315's on my 2nd gen and they just fit with the 2" leveling lift. I have 9" wide aftermarket wheels. The stock wheels might buy you a little space but I think it would be tight.
You can get the 2" lift springs for about $145. If you catch 4 wheel parts wholesalers on a sale they throw in the installation for free.
BIGHAMMER, It's a touchy situation between the offset and the wheel widht. The part that rubs is the outside of the wheel that is on the side of the turn (turn hard right and the OUTSIDE of the right tire will rub) The offset on a stock wheel is 4" and the offset on a standard aftermarket whell is 4 1/2". The 1/2" actually moves the tire inboard which helps the rubbing situation.
The good thing about the Dodge front ends is that when the suspension compresses, the wheel actually moves forward in relation to the wheel well.
I still stand by the fact that with an aftermarket wheel, the 2" kit gives you JUST enough room to clear the wheel ( in all situations).
Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of a 2" lift (both trucks) anyway. I have a set of H2 wheels that are probably going on my new truck. I might check out the fit of the 03 alloys w/315s on the 94.
I also keep wondering what's behind the big "bump" in the wheel well.
