I have a question concerning the use of the 3200 spring guys. My engine will run past the 3200 RPM mark now while accelerating on a hill in 3rd and 3400+ with transmission in "N". So ,,,,,,,,,,what will I gain by installing this spring. I have one in the box of goodies from PDR and have yet to install because I'm not sure why I need it. I don't need more fuel/speed.

Any thoughts from those who have one and why it was installed. I don't wish to add parts to my truck simply to include them in a user signature.

GL, from what I understand it will allow more fueling/pull harder up to and at those rpms you're at now. Plus less wear and tear on internals designed for lower rpms. I too have one from PDR waiting to be installed. Most of the 'big' boys have them, KTA Cummins told me the gs helped him out a bit. C'mon 'big' boys we need input. .

I put one in, it just moves the de-fuelling point higher. From what I understand, if you just move your high idle screw, it will still defuel at the normal governing point, and you won't have the same top end power, but you will be able to rev higher. When I put in the GSK I could tell a major difference. It essentially makes your power bands longer in each gear. check out my dyno chart in this thread.

Horsepower stays nearly constant from 2000 rpm to just under 3000 rpm when I told the dyno operater to get out of the throttle. Maybe I'm wrong about moving the high idle screw, if so I guess I wasted about $12, and a couple hours of my labor to install it. However, I certainly thought it was a great mod (best $12 I ever spent on the old gal), and also a good way to get intimately familiar with your pump.

I don't know how comfortable you guys are with operating on your pumps, but I was scared as he11 to open mine up. Once I was done, I was really surprised at how easy it was, when compared with what I had imagined. Just follow PB's instructions and take your time, I wouldn't hesitate to do another one. Do be freaked out about it like I was. I think I actually had nightmares about my truck not running before I did mine!!

A helpful tip on the install. When performing steps 7 and 8, be sure to mark the throttle shaft's orientation BEFORE removing it. If this is put back even one notch away from it's original postition, it will alter your low and high idle DRAMATICALLY (read: your truck probably won't run). Don't ask me how I know, just trust me on this one. :)

Well I know that I am not one of the big boy's :D , but it was the best $12 I have ever spent on my pickup. It will make you wonder why you waited this long to do it.

my bearings

GL... those had better be Timken bearings... ... :D

I adjusted my gov stop and the truck pulls hard for 150 rpm more than it did before. So adjustment does help. But I can see how the 3200 K spring would inprove upon that.

Wish I could make it to your cookout..... somebody please take some pics during the group governor spring install... and it had better be synchronized!!! :-laf

Hey... perhaps a future olympic event????
