B.T.W a little more on the 6.0 L Powerstroke

I"ve owned some 3208's and their prediisessor 1160??. the 3208 is the better motor but really likes fuel. . I always had Fabick tractor company ( our cat dealer) send a mechanic out and put in the fast acting governor which really made this thing git. would cost me a couple of hundred and very well worth it. My uncle (recently died) was engineer for cat that worked on design and testing of this motor and it's fore runners. I asked him why the little dump trucks would get 250000 miles on the motor and the tandem dumps the motor would go to S#!t with only 30,000 miles. he said it was originally designed for single axel city tractors for ford and never intended to run in tandems. As a matter of fact he said there was conflict for a while when they refused to warranty the engines after dealers started selling them in tandem trucks that they were never intended to run in. Best thing I like about the 3208 is that it doesn't matter if it is 10 degrees below zero, if you can get it to turn over one revolution that baby will start!Oo.
