Favorite Guitarists?

Say what? At 1000yds, that group is 10", or 1 MOA (approximately). I think that's good enough for an elk... . maybe not a small whitetail or coyote, but for an elk... ... you're good I think. A little practice won't hurt any, I'm sure!! Well, won't hurt your performance..... :D Oo. The shoulder... . well, just remember, you're the one that bought that thing!! :D

So what I assumed was correct 1in group at 100 yards is 1 MOA and so on 2 in group at 200 is 1MOA to like you said 10in at 1000 is 1MOA at 1000? I dont know HH a 10inch miss placed shot at 1000 yards meens someone COULD be doing ALOT of tracking.

Hmmm, perhaps... . :cool: But, what else do they have to do?!?! :D All that good food, they need to work some of that off!!!

BUT, most likely, it would work well..... But then, I don't recommend people shoot that far, anyway. I don't like to, but I'm known to. And on hogs, I just don't care... . :cool: If he limits himself to 800 yards, that's 8"... ... . of course, we both know, a good shot can be made bad, especially by game moving during bullet ToF, flinching, or just plain windage or shooter error... ... .

If you put a 10" plate on an elks shoulder, and could hit it, I'd think that'd be a pretty decent shot..... high, and you break the spine, low and you destroy the heart, lungs, and shoulder... . And remember, you're just under 10"..... I don't think that sounds bad... . especially compared to some of the lunitics they allow to shoot, let alone hunt game!!! :eek:

My shots go for the pic with the arrow they drop dead NOW no questions asked. Its not a 10in miss area. ABSOLUTELY NO TRACKING Breaks Neck/Spine/Shoulder on my last Elk off by 6 in and it took a step and 1/2 and nosed over face first.

Sleep comes to mind for the tracker/packer especially on about the 3 week hunting sleep has been at a PREMIUM!!!!!! for at least 2 or 3 weeks :-laf

I got a grip on that equation G MAN :-laf but still dont feel that the group is all that great. Better than some worse than others I guess. Still more work because at 1K it would have been WAY off

I reckon finding that sweet spot will take a little more work. Fine tuning the seating depth(still with magazine feeding capability and not jammed into the rifling. ) and grain or two of powder, if you are not already at maximum, may cut that group in half?
Have you tried the ladder method?
Heres one way;

Hope this helps!

PS, After looking at your group again and using HH's measurements. You only have about 1 3/4" horizontal dispersion on the 3 centered shots. That vertical round and the flier may indicate a rest issue.
IMHO, I'd set up a GOOD bag system and shoot another group before tweaking the load.
Try gluing a white construction paper square in the center of the X about 4" X 4". Use this as your aiming point and it will be easier to center the reticle and quarter the square. Good contrast and easier to see.

I have sent for a lead Sled rest and im building a target stand. Im lazy and have got fluorescent orange disc blades hanging around the BACKYARD at various distances. Longest shot is 600yd 7 others at closer range up to 100yd but do not shoot that one with the 378 I dont want to have to hang it up every time I shoot it. Im going to climb up the hill (range backstop) and hang some at various distance and angles good practice I would think because allot of our hunting shots come at angles either up of down. I think the round/load that I have is good to go HH said it might get better with a little more lead down the tube. The primers are almost flat and NO leaks around them not hard to extract the case no split necks just a good smooth round. Its fine out to as far as I care to shoot. And WAY MORE than what my Son needs to be shooting at. Next will be the 300 win the smith said that should be done before I go into the mountains July 9 for about a month. That's the one the wife and I will shoot. Son got some testicle the other day and was looking around the gun safe and pulled the Bear Slayer 45/70 I started :-laf and told him he better eat some Wheaties for awhile first. He shot it ONE TIME and asked what do you need that for REALLY? Jason said HE WAS GLAD I HAD IT:-laf:-laf Those Hammerheads really do kick your A** they aren't even entertaining to shoot.
