Adoption Question(s)

another house question...

I am kinda having a tough decision to make. I want to take the next step on my truck. IE... . ported/o-ringed head, twins, billet dtt parts and alot of the other bells and whistles that come with those upgrades. Kinda big bucks for some more power. I have a 73 340 4 speed cuda that I bought 13 years ago that I have done nothing with in that time. I get the itch to dump a little cash into the cuda every now and then. What would you do? I may save the cuda for me and my son to rebuild... ... ... ... . but he is only 3 1/2, so I have time on my side! It is a tough decision for me. My truck has plenty of power but it would be awsome to have twins... ... .

If it were me, I would keep the truck how you got it. I mean it is a truck and once you start throwing more stuff at it, it will be prone to breaking.

I would rather get the cuda running to drive on the weekends and friday nights, maybe start a full resto when your son gets older... a 73 cuda will be worth big bucks in a few years...

Do a few upgrades on the truck and keep the cuda running nice... Always fun to have a hot diesel but sometimes it is good to have a second fast muscle car...

I agree with EBottema. In a couple more years, your son will be old enough to start helping and learning how to wrench from you. And rowing through the gears of an old 4sp muscle car is just as cool as driving a souped up Cummins diesel. And the value of the Cuda is gonna go up. The value of the truck is gonna go down.

I'm having the same thoughts about a Corvette that I have sitting under a cover in the garage. I keep getting the urge to sell it. But I know that I'll probably regret it later, especially if my child would ever happen to have an interest them.

So I'm going to also have to agree with EBottema, hang on to the Cuda if it is possible. Even if you don't do anything with it for now. If later on your son has no interest in it, then I would consider selling. I don't see the Cuda's value dropping any time soon.

I just sold my 68 charger last week and used a good chunk of the money to buy another ctd but I also am building a a-990 clone, If I wasn't I wouldn't have sold the 68. Now that the 70&71's have gone out of sight the2-3-4's are next. I own 6 dodge trucks everything from a /6 flatbed to a 5ton monster w/a detroit and they are good trucks but from a monitarily standpoint ain't worth their wt. in dogcrap, Doing the e-body is a no brainer. There needs to be more 10sec mopars w/lic. plates

Keep the 'Cuda

Keeping the Cuda for a father-son rebuild does a few things... 1. It keeps the car from being destroyed by a salvage yard. 2. It means time spent with your son, which is always time well spent. 3. It teaches your son a bit of patience, as rebuilding an old car is never quick, nor easy. 4. It builds confidence in your son... if he can rebuild a car with all those parts that must work together in harmony, what else can he do? 5. Most of all, it perpetuates the next generation of car-crafters and builders... people who are not afraid to take something apart just to see how it works.

let me have the cuda, that will be money you save from insurance, fuel, and other expences that you can put twards your truck;)

j/k BTW

I'd save the cuda for a father son rebuild.

Exactly what he said!

The Cuda is now in storage. I think I will save it for a few more years for the father son rebuild. I may start aquiring parts for it now. Little by little and then it won't be so bad when I jump in with both feet! As for the values of the 73 and the 98 for that matter does not matter to me because as it sits right now, I can not see any reason at all why I would sell either one. Bought the cuda when I was 18 (now 31) and I bought my 98 new and am very attatched to both of them. I did not word my question very well in the poll, but it is nice to see even on a diesel forum most of the votes are going for the cuda. My wife is fully supportive on me spending money on the cuda. She want's to drive it in the worst way all the time and make it into her mommy wagon. I just roll my eyes.
