Stopped in to the local dealer and they had a sale going on. $35,000. for a 3500 diesel 6 speed. Seems like a pretty good deal since I spent $32,000. on my 01. Problem is my 01 only has 100,000 mi. and is in new condition and is paid for. I noticed that the 3500's sit quite a bit higher than the 2500's. Different looking rear springs too. What's the difference?

$35K may sound like a good deal, but what is invoice? If you can get it for $300 or $400 below invoice, that's a good deal.

Call Dave Smith in Kellogg, ID. for a good deal.

Edited to change MSRP to invoive.

Just for laughs, a while ago I priced a replacement for my signature truck on Chrysler's website. A similarly equipped Outdoorsman reg. cab came in at 45K sticker price. Now we're going to a 3500 dually, which is presumably more expensive, but is selling for 10K less than a 2500 reg. cab PU. I would suspect that this is a stripped truck and/or has already been titled and is not a virgin any more.

I'll check on the trim package, can't remember but I know it had everything I'd ever want. It had everything and more than my 01 SLT. Cloth seats, power door stuff, air, cruise, ipod, trailer brake, receiver hitch, exhaust brake, and a QUIET motor!! It's definitely not titled, it's brand new.

Talk to Ed at Dave Smith before making a decision. They've got a huge inventory and will e-mail you a quote. Armed with that price,your local dealer may just lower theirs.

I'm still trying to decide what to do. My problem is that I take way too good care of my stuff and my 01 is literally like new. I think I'll get a Dave Smith quote first, I bought my last two there. The local sales guy keeps calling me and says he has a bunch of peeps that want my truck.

Ah yes, I used to be like you with my trucks as well. Especially since I bought them new. I have to say that it has been a bit liberating to buy a used truck (that was not taken care of like you and I would have)... so I don't obsess about it [as much]. The fact that I moved away from southern California, have two young kids and live on a golf course is another great reason for me not to spend the time on the outside of the truck as much as I did:

1)SoCal was so car-focused that you were constantly judged by your ride... this is not the case in North Carolina

2) Two young kids means I don't have the time (my priorities have changed)

3) My truck appears to be a magnet for golf ball strikes - so I am now able to walk out to the truck and experience only a mild heart attack when I see a new ding - or hear "the sound" of a f-ing Titleist hitting my truck!:{

There is something wrong with the truck if it is priced at $35k. There is no way it is a 3500 DRW with a Cummins. Maybe one of those "No Charge" Hemis. I bought a '05 SLT 3500 DRW Quad Cab new in 04 and it rolled out the door for $33k. I shopped and hunted hard to find it for that.

If I am wrong, Congrats Man!!!!! That's a darn good price!!!:--)

It's a SRW. And it's a cummins 6 speed and actually it's 35,800. THere's prolly some other charges they haven't told me about. But I got quote from Dave Smith for 37,200 for a one ton automatic.

Single rear wheel, 4x4, long box, NOT a mega cab but a 4 door extra cab or whatever they are called. The Dave smith truck is an st package plus convenience package which includes chrome and power locks and Windows exhaust brake, ipod deck cold weather group.
