35 mpg ?

4 cyl cummins mpg...

I see someone wondered about 4 cyl cummins mpg. . I don't know about the cummins, but the isuzus get 36-40 2wd and 33 or so for 4wd. I haven't used the turbo, but I believe previous owner said he got 33 in a 2wd (these are for 4 cyl isuzus), but they only have about 1/4-1/3 the power of the cummins but are 1/2 the size..... hmmmm, maybe I'll BOMB the Isuzus... .

for what it's worth, the worst I ever got was 25 mpg with a 25 cu ft fridge standing up in bed going 70-80mph... errr, downhill only 50 mph uphill, non turbo...

The 100+ ton Cat dump trucks get around 1000ft/gal or 42ga/hour empty. That's when a 1200 gallon fuel tank comes in handy.

Last boat I was on (140 ft, 700 tons, 2500 SHP) used 100+ gallons of fuel an hour at full power. Definitely needed the 25,000 capacity.

yeah, I noticed that after I posted the reply, plus all my spelling and grammer errors... .

That ship sure uses a lot of fuel. I'll bet they could use a Transflow auxilary tank. (Mine had the 45? gallon one when I bought it. When I went to fill it to keep condensation out during winter with shell on,((can't get to it with shell very easily)) much to my surprise, the previous owner had filled it

Count me in on the Isuzu history. I had an '84 Isuzu 2. 4L with 5spd and 4. 10 in a long bed 2wd. It had 180,000+ miles on it when the speedo cable snapped. We drove it two more years so it was well over 200,000. With the excellent service I got from the P'up, I can't help but have faith in the new Duramax. That doesn't mean I want one. But I beleive it will be a good engine in the long run. I know the 4B has more power than the little Isuzu had. I'd like to drive one of the South American Superduty's just to see what it has to offer. And I wonder what it gets for fuel economy.

I went down the VW Rabbit diesel road too. That was a neat little car and very well built. I even ran it straight piped for a week or two. It sounded sweet with a glasspack! It had over 200k on it before the mrs let it overheat and cracked the aluminum head. Not a problem. I swapped it out with a junkyard head using hand tools. Then I gave her a good spanking and got another couple of years out of it!
