I have a '99 2500 - Does anyone know from experience - if I install a 2. 5" leveling kit, will I be able to fit 35" tires on the truck without them rubbing? Thanks in advance.

My truck sits level on spacers and I have rubbed 285 buckshot mudders. My axle isn't centered (stock track bar) so that doesn't help. The rubbing is on the control arms and a lift won't solve that. You can go with aftermarket arms but that makes the lift a lot more expensive. To do it right, you need spacer or new coils, new shocks, new control arms and a new track bar. That will get your geometry back into check but costs about 10 times what just the coils do. I'm doing mine in stages... track bar is next. Aftermarket wheels with different backspacing helps too, but can rub the fender if they are spaced too far outward and you know how the PA police feel about tires sticking outside of the fenders!



So I guess the answer is, they may rub, depends on how you plan on your driving style. I try to keep my truck away from full lock on the steering. Some guys claim they never had any rub issues.

I have a 98 Quad Cab rolling on 35's. The front axle has aftermarket track bar so it is centered and the truck sits on a leveling kit. At 100% full lock the inside corner of the tires rub on the inner fender (slight hole developing after fully wearing out BFG 315/75-17). The rub is not at all bad and I beleive it only occurs during full lock AND unlevel terrain such as an inlining driveway or hill. I can supply a picture of the truck, tires (at full lock too), and rub marks if you like. Let me know.

I have a 2. 5" spacer and only rub a little if im off camber full lock. I have aftermarket 16X8" rims.

I've had 35's on my truck for 8yrs & they just rub alittle on the inner fender,I have them on steel wheels w/5" backspce most al wheels are 41/2" backspace which can make quite a difference.

I have 305/8R16's (36. 4" nominal) on my truck with 3" of lift and they have never contacted anything even during moderate 'wheeling. I do have 16x8 aftermarket wheels with about 1/2" less backspacing than the stock 16x8, so that accounts for the clearance to the control arms as some have mentioned. You have to measure it to know that the axle is slightly offset to the driver's side without an adjustable track bar. Good luck fitting yours.
 
I have 35's on AR 10X16. 5 and a 2-2. 5 inch procomp spacer kit. I had a serious rub, My driver side fender lining has a hole after about 6k of rubbing. I finally blew for the DT bars in half inch longer format. It puts the front axle back out under the springs rather than slightly inward. You'd be suprised how much that alone will change the ride quality.



I think you need to buy an actual kit with spacers/springs, new longer links and a new trac bar. It will alleiviate your rub problems and keep your factory geometry and ride. If you do get links too, keep in mind that Ball joint rod ends (heim joints) tend to wear out quickly on daily drivers.
