How long have you had the FASS system?

Oil Additive to stop the smell

I know there are probably several very good 350 - 400hp turbos avialable and I would like to here about them.

I would like to move up from a 35 w/ 16NW to something that spools faster, drops EGTs closer to "normal", and cleans up some or most smoke.

While I might regret this down the road I do not want a turbo that gives me room to move past 400 hp. To many dollars involved there for the turbo, clutch, and, and, and.

Considering what I am getting by with now I just want to get a turbo that helps burn the fuel I get out of my current setup.

I like what I read about the 35/40 hybrids but how are they at 400 hp? Last time I ran I was around 390 hp.

Any advice that is specific to 12V really helps as I (we) are much more crudely tuned.

I about have the better half convinced the turbo in "our" truck is worn out!

The HTB2 with the 12cm housing might be your best bet. HTT also has a 35/40 hybrid that might work but that sounds like a lot of hp for a 35/40 to handle.

Ditto on what mcoleman said. A friend and I have been running both the small HTB2 and the Killer B. My friend is pushing 490 HP with the smaller one, but it gets a little warm. I am not sure what HP mine is putting out, most likely a little less. I am running the Killer B with the 12 cm housing and will soon be stepping up to try the 14 cm housing. I am pleased so far.

The Diesel Dynamics Jammer turbo works well in the up to 500 hp range. I have one on my 2004 and I am very happy with it. I know of some on 12 valve trucks and it works very well on them also.

Tell me more....

Thanks for the advice but.....

How do you think the HTB2 will spool as compared to a HX35 when running 375hp. I am worried this larger turbos will take more fuel to spool better then the HX35-16NWG setup I currently run.

I really do not want to have something that spools slower then the setup I curretly have... I have enough smoke and lag.

Way back when... . I ran a #11, stock turbo and no GSK, I would get a slight puff of smoke when I first got on going (WOT), then now more smoke, EGTs would climb to 1400 for just a second and then it would start defueling... . EGTS dropped. Perfect setup for that HP level.

Can I get there with 375 - 400hp?

The HTB2 has a very quick spool up. I run my truck with the Killer B with a 14cm exhaust housing around with the boxes off and only have a slight bit of lag in the upper gears if I load it up. When going through the gears there is no lag. It spools up nicely. The Killer B is the next size up from the standard HTB2. The standard HTB2 has a 62 compressor wheel. The Killer B has a 64 compressor. And yes the 62 will support that much horsepower and then some. My buddy is currently running an HTB2 62 and pushing over 500 HP with it. He loves it.

If I were you I would wait to hear more about the new Holset turbo called the Super 40 which will be a direct bolt on. :)

Ok, you have my attention. Tell us more about this "Super 40" please. The 375-425 range is where I plan to be too, so I am also looking for info about what works well in this power range.

Most 35/40 hybrids can support 400hp with ease. The Dodgezilla has lived a while at this level and beyond, even... .

It's one of the 2 new turbos that holset is coming out with. I think they will be avaiable in 2 weeks if I'm not mistaken. Talk to Merrick of Larado Performance Diesel or JR Adkins if you want more details. :)

I turned 350hp with a HTT stage 3 on my 12cm unit. Timing wasn't even advanced at the time. The hybrid keeps EGTs in control fairly good at 16. 5°, but I don't tow.
