I remember reading about putting the rear brake cylinders from a 3500 onto a 2500 for improved braking. Is this info correct, and what else is involved? Tried doing a search, but must be I didn't use the right terms.

Jeff,

I put the 1 ton rear wheel cylinders on my 95 2wd last summer. It helps give better stopping, but the self adjusting part is still not very efficient. Just go to the dealer or a napa (whatever you like) store and get the wheel cylinders for your truck only tell them it is a 3500 when they put your info in the computer. You will get the ones like I did. The 2500 parts had a 24mm piston and the 3500 parts are 27mm size. Not much difference in size, but you can feel it. Just remove the old ones and install the new ones and bleed things as needed. Adjust stuff up and happy stopping.

I just had my brakes done at the local brake
chain and they had no problem with putting on the larger cyl. from a 3500. It's a direct bolt on. .

The posts so far have been correct. you will want a 1 1/16 wheel cylinder for the 2500 and if you are doing a 3500 you will want the 1 3/16 size. call me at 360/357-4958 during the work week between 8. 30--5. 30 and i can give you more info on part numbers and other improvements. e-mail also-----Sam
