ive seen some 3500 trucks with singel wheel? is that for real?

is it people who done som conversion or are they stock?

if so what is the diffrence? can i convert my 2500 to a 3500 singelwheel?

want to be able to pull more load leagally and get a little more on the bed whitout

getting the cops to go crazy. . on a 2500 its only leagal to load like 700kg in finland

and with that i can only have 5 seats in use at the time and not 6

can i get up the weight on my truck i can raise the passanger capacity to

but if trucks was made with singel 3500 i would need to get some

proof from mopar or dodge whats diffrence, and then just change it

and go for change my registration

I am not an expert on this but I will try to answer some of your questions.

Yes, there are single wheel 3500 HD's trucks that the big three market. My son's 06 is a 3500 SRW truck.

The major difference depending on model years is an additional over load spring and roof mounted clearance lights. The truck is certified at a higher weight carrying capacity and towing capacity by the manufacture over the 2500 HD's.

I do not believe a customer can legally change the load/towing capacity of a 2500 HD truck to a 3500 HD. On the weight placard that the manufacture installs.

In the states you can legally license the truck to carry a higher load carrying capacity on the license plate. But this will not change the load carrying weight placard on the truck. Make sense?

in finland i can change it if i can get a paper that shows the diffrence and change it so it matches. then i can get more towing capacity and loading.

im just curious how much i can get would be nice to tow my backhoe or other small excavators. . the problem is to get a trailer since your trailers isnt e aproved. . and to find a fifth wheeler hitch thats e aproved is possible but never found i gooseneck hitch thats leagal here and thas what i want so i dont loose all my bed space

There is only 400-500 more capacity in the 3500 models. They are still limited to the single wheel. I went to 245/70-19. 5 which have 4500 lbs capacity each the axles in the 2500 are the same as the duelly pickups and they are rated for 9300 lbs. So with larger capacity tires and by adding springs you can have more capacity.

This might be able to help you. http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/year.pdf

This is the Dodge builders web sit that list capacities and the tow ratings and their capacity.

Just click on the model year and then proceed to the information you want by clicking on the icon of your choice. Sometimes they list the major difference in the trucks also.

When my truck was new, I parked in it next another TDR members (Red Ram) new dually and compared ride height. We both had the same number of leafs but his sat 2-3 inches higher than mine. Seems like there has to be a difference in the strength of the spring packs.

My opinion, is its stiffer than a 2500 less stable than a 3500 DRW and has very little gain in capacity. Dodge started the 3500 SRW out of competition to the other manufactures doing the same. For the extra price and minimal gain in load, its worthless to me. However if you want the beefier suspension and need the extra load capacity, then it should work for you.

I have no clue whatsoever about the transportation laws in Finland but here in the USA we can't modify the manufacturer's GVWR or GAWRs on the decal or tag in the driver's door post.

If your goal is simply to improve the actual carrying capacity of your truck a set of four 19. 5" wheels and G or H rated tires plus a set of airbags, Timbren "donuts", or an extra spring leaf installed by a spring shop would do it.

Changing the manufacturer's ratings would be an entirely different matter. I would not expect Chrysler Corporation or Dodge to assist in any way. I wouldn't expect either to even respond to your phone calls, letters, or emails.

I've never been able to get the children who answer the telephones at the Dodge 'customer service" center to provide an intelligent answer on any subject. The first problem is they don't know anything. The second is that they don't have access to anyone who does. The third is that arrogant big American manufacturers simply don't care to answer product questions.

Former TDR member Greg Boardman RIP, had done a DRW to SRW conversion and had some pictures of both axels. The DRW axel had larger calipers and it was wider.

The pic clearly showed this.
