3500 SHORT bed DUALY?

I was just looking through some of the specifications the dealer photocopied for me. One of the spec's listed was a SHORT bed (6ft) Dual Rear Wheel 3500. .



Are they really making this?



If so what is the GVW/GCW of this? Doea anyone know?

Ford makes or at least used to make one. But a Dodge DRW short bed is a new one on me.

Well the SB was in a Quad Cab so it is really not all that shorter than a reg cab long bed. I don't know what the ride in those is like but I assume it is not too bad...



Anyway it was worth a shot to see if it was really an option or not.

I had a RC '94 4x4 Dually and the QC lb rides like a Rolls in comparison. The longer the wheelbase, the better the ride, throw a couple of extra wheels in the back and the ride would really be punishing. On the other hand a sb dually would be great for towing a long heavy trailer with a PullRite sliding hitch. The g3's ride much better than the g2's.

I have the 3500 DRW Regular Cab 4 X 4 long bed, and the ride is great. The configuration of the rear suspension works fine both loaded and empty. That I have would be the same chassis and wheel base as a 3500 DRW QC short bed - 140. 5". And the QC short would carry more weight in front because of the larger cab. I would expect the ride to be even better. My GVWR is 12,000. Perhaps they assumed anyone who wants to carry 5,000+ in the bed would want an 8' bed to do it. Otherwise, I don't think the ride was the reason they are not making them.

Probably the same reason they don't make a "real" crew-cab.
