3500 tailgait removal and lights

With the 3rd gen trucks I want to know how you take the tailgait off. Specifcally the light disconnect. I have a slide in camper. Is there some kind of quick connect plug for these types of situations or is it hard wired in?

Yes, there is a plug under the bed behind the spare tire. Unplug at this connector, pull the wire harness out through the hole in the body, and remove the tailgate. I very seldom use my tailgate. I plan to get a 5th wheel type gate which is much lighter and easier to take off and on than the factory tailgate.

hey guys what color are your trucks i want the drw tailgate for my srw what do you think.

My truck is white, but the tailgate occupies a spot in the corner of the shop and goes back on when I sell/trade the truck.
