I banged up my front wheel rings (just the little ouside ring) so went into Dodge and asked them to order me a pair of new ones.
Parts Guy: That'll be $207 each.
Me: EACH? or a Pair?
Parts Guy: Each.
Me: JUST the little ring, not the inner cover?
Parts Guy: Yep, just the ring, each.
Me: Sounds like a set of Alcoa wheels are in my future, that's what they cost per wheel.

Can you believe it?

Mark. . Are you talking about the nut covers ?? if so what a rip. . If your talking about the stainless beauty rings you can have mine as I have the Alum... Gary

Man, 207 bucks EACH! That's highway robbery. Way too much for those things! I saw them advertised in "American Trucker" magazine a while back. I think they were 50 bucks for a set of 4. THey were stainless steel, and came in 16, 17, 19. 5, 22. 5, and 24 inch sizes. I'll see if I can find the ad again...

Yep, I looked into alternatives. You can buy a full set of stainless simulators, outer rings AND inner nut covers, from quite a few vendors for about $250 -- that's everything for all four wheels. I'll definitely be buying a set from an alternative source.

Yep, and I got a better one for ya.

I just got my truck back from the body shop due to a scrape with a telephone pole, and the right front cover was dented a little. So, I said sure replace it($185. 00). Well about a week later my son and I went out to the local BLM area to do a little target practice, and as you know some of the roads are not that wide, so we pulled over to let a Cheby go by and got a little close and heard a little scraping noise. I knew I did a little damage, thought it was just cosmetic. Well found out that brand new wheel cover got knocked off and my rear dully tires flattened it like a pancake!!

At $185-200 per copy, it aint been replaced!

I'm with Big Mak, wait till I decide on new wheels.

Hey Mark, Check out this old thread. Some SOB stold one of my front ones. Guess I can't blame him/her when DC get $185. 00 a pop. Outrageous. Any way I bought the Summit brand simulators ($135. 00 for all 4 corners). They look 100% better than stock. WAY MORE Shine #ad
, plus they bolt on under the lug nut, instead if snap on like stock. As an added bonus the front ones fit the wheel tight, and the lug nut covers stick out. The better half hasn't scraped them yet on a curb. The factory ones she had trashed the first time she drove it UGH!!

Opps have figured this copy and paste thing. Search on my UserName. Post was on 02-02-00 "wheel covers'

Just hammer 'em back into shape and put 'em back on. It seems the dented ones don't get ripped off as much a nice dentless ones. Be glad you don't have the new plastic models.

For a long time I just left mine off--made rotating tires much easier.

I wacked a rock with one of my outside tires on a jeep trail in the white mountains of Eastern California once. The jolt was so hard I thought I'd have to go back to get the axle--ripped the sidewall right out of a BFG MT and, strangely, tore out the pinon seal. Gotta watch out for those rocks hiding behind bushes. I've since decided a dually just ain't the right tool for a narrow jeep trail.
