Talked my old man into buying a new 600 the other day. Bought him an autometer ultralight 0-35 psi boost guage. I just finished installing it and took it for a test drive and was able to peg the guage. I thought these turbos were wastegated at 25 or so. I used the boost bolt from Geno's to tap into the intake. Could I have done something wrong to cause these numbers or did my old man really get a SUPER 600?

If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.

I had my 600 in last week to the dealer. I was questioning a flat spot or turbo lag from a dead stop, as in pulling out into traffic. My point is, when I got the paperwork back on what all they had checked and done, the one thing I noticed is that the boost checked fine at WOT @ 44lbs of boost!!! Based on what I saw, that meter you have is useless, it would seem. I'm not a diesel mechanic, but I can read the data. FYI.

OT-OF-HERE the shop tests them at the discharge before the intercooler so it will read several pounds higher here because of the pressure drop across the intercooler. 44psi is pretty healthy though regardless!

Anyone else have a boost gauge on their 600 yet??

I have the x-monitor and it should be installed in the next couple weeks. Will get back to you on those readings. I will be testing it with the only mods being an AFE and dual exhaust w/Aeroturbine at that time.

I can see an occasional 35 psi with mine, but it usually hits and drops back to 28 or 30 when the gate opens. The 44 number was likely on the scan tool that reads in atmospheric pressure. In other words it shows 14 psi by just turning on the ignition. So take 14 psi off of the 44.

same here I can hit about 35 lbs stock trim then falls off to about 28 lbs, but with the EZ lvl 4 can hit a constant 42 lbs or so.

Put a AutoMeter boost gauge on my new 600.

It will spike to about 35-37 psi and then settle down to 28 to 30. I have not tested on the mountian passes here yet but will an a couple of weeks. Hope to find out where it will run on a sustained 10 to 15 minute 5th gear maximum pull. It sure suprised me that the pressure #s would be that high. Seems to pull great!! Oo.

How about some EGT's from you guys with gauges installed? I haven't got gauges in the new ride yet but have been wondering about temps... especially with heavy towing and at shutdown.

WOW, maybe this explains why I can here more Turbo "wine" on my Dads 04. 5 then I can on my 03 with the Scotty intake.

I know the 555's were only 25 or so stock, I can get 36-38 on my 555 with the EZ on 4 and the boost elbow.

Did they change the turbo for the 600's? If not that baby must be maxed right out, they said it was for the 555's already.

They went to a little larger compressor housing and electronic wastegate actuator but they still use the same tiny turbine housing.

OT-OF-HERE, I was at my dealer this evening asking about them installing a boost gauge for me, and he mentioned that my truck was making 16 lbs of boost at idle. I looked puzzled, and he said that the computer in the shop, reads the atmospheric pressure at the intake, and if he revs the truck up, it will show 30 to 40 lbs boost, but that it was an eronius reading, because of the atmospheric pressure. He then told me that the truck should only make a "Healthy" 24 to 26 lbs of boost under heavy load.

I guess long story short, the numbers referred to at a dealer, from the computer are atmospheric pressure, and not boost? Again, I'm a newbie, so I just took him at his word :)

Just trying to clear up any confusion!

Oh, by the way, they will install my boost and pyro gauges, for sixty bucks an hour, estimating two hours! Expensive I know, but at least I can fall back on the dealer if the turbo explodes due to the installation.
