I like miser up but i really want the fender flares.
Here is something else I noticed when you go to aftermarket rims.
Theres those little copper clips that hold on the rotor. make sure you remove those. When you tow a heavy load with the after market rims they mount flush up against the rotor and that tiny little bit of clearance between the studs that have the copper clip and the ones that don't bring the possibility of breaking studs. (at least that's my assumption) When I came home this summer and rotated tires I went to remove my rear lugs and multiple ones I went to remove sheared right off. Further research I noticed that these lugs have been broke for some time (the last time I drove my truck was May 2017 due to me being stationed overseas.). I replaced all 16 rear lugs and removed those clips so my wheel sits flush against the rotor all the way around.
I hope this makes sense.
Thats interesting that you say they'd fit on stock suspension. I wouldn't know because when I swapped my wheels I also installed the OEM leveling kit. The only place i rub is on the outer rear of the inner fender well. I never had a problem with the control arms. OP i hope you found this discussion has answered all your questions. I am looking forward to see what you choose to install!
Wouldn’t it give me 2” in the front with it being a 2” leveling kit?..
sUnless you only have 2" of up travel the suspension is still compressing when you hit a bump. If you just do a coil spacer then the bump stops should be dropped down as well so the coil is not over compressed but no one does that, with a replacement coil most are designed around factory bump stop travel.
Also depends where the rub is, on stock wheel where the tire would rub the control or radius arm you could do a 6" lift and the rub would be the same, wheels with less off set might gain a little bit of clearance from the fender with a leveling kit but only at ride height not when the suspension compresses.
The oem kit has replacement bump stops and the spring spacer.
A leveling kit does give you more clearance from the top of the wheel-well to tire, but without the proper offset of the wheel you will be rubbing something like the control arms.
