Is it wrong of me to think that the only "proper" way to turbo a Vee engine is to run 1 turbo per cylinder bank?

Detroit uses one turbo on their smaller engines I have a 6V53 without I was going to put twins on it Via one off of each exhaust bank and then I was going to drop it in a 71 Power Wagon then the truck sorta hit a tree before I got that far :{
