When mine is doing it... . it starts out small... 25rpm up and down... After a few min... it can get up to a 100rpm change. It's kinda funny when it gets really bad... the belt will squeek like it's stopping... then fire back up... belt... fire... belt... fire.

Dad's used to do that first thing in the AM too, Josh...

He says it's quite a bit better after installing the "022" DV's...

He was going to do some testing sometime in the near future to see if he can make it stall in gear like it always used to do... like if you stab it in gear from idle and get right off the soot pedal - it used to stall 99% of the time when you did that...

Installing 'bigger' DV's effectively raises the idle a smidge... this can't hurt the problem any...

i only have stock injectors, but i have a 370hp marine injection pump. my truck lopes, sounds good when warm in drive, but will get real nasty cold with the grid heaters on. my idle is up to about 950 warm to help with it. maybe it's a different type of lope than you guys are talking about (when i was stock i had a lope only on cold, cold mornings--very different than what i have now), but that's my two cents worth.

Tom when you pulled out of my place last year Lisa was standing there next to me and heard your rig fire up. She loves monster trucks and the loping idle put a big smile on her face. She said "What do we need to do to make ours idle like that?!" I said, maybe some bigger shower heads would do the trick. :D Now as well as the SB clutch is holding, this might be attainable.

FWIW:

My '94 wouldn't "lope" (when warmed up) with 370's and cut DV's or 022 DV's...

It ran really odd when you first fired it off with the big DV's...

hey tim, how's it goin?? yeah, the idle's great at stop lights and stuff, but the rpms really jump around cold until i get the egt's up a bit. are you running most of the fuel you can right now? great power for your altitude!

hey matt, there's aproblem with your truck i think...

Tom: Great Pic! You must have snapped that pic right after I hit the soot pedal... man, she was a smoky beast with the cut DV's or 022's. :-laf
