My truck has smoked like a chimney at idle ever since I installed the 370's. The blue smoke just poors out of the stacks when I fire it up, no matter what the temp. The motor burns NO oil and I even bumped the timing up to 15 and it made no difference.

DD3's

I keep a set of 370's around because most people want to spend as little as possible. I much prefer the DD3's, you get a custom balanced set of injectors with the proper spray pattern. Generally they idle better, run smoother a low rpm and smoke less. The 370's are said to make a few more hp but I can't really say for sure. You won't be disappointed with either injectors, especially if your running higher rpms. HTH's, Larry

Anybody with that combo in a 175 hp pump?

I am running the 370's with 191 delivery valves and it surprises me every time I drive it. Runs great with no problems. With the engine stock, my mileage was eratic, 16 to 19 mpg. With all the mods and over 400 hp I get 18 mpg every tank and its run a lot harder than before. Went to a 16 housing and helped a lot with wot smoke and egts. Have never towed with it so don't know what to expect. Wot in overdrive, pyro will hit 1500 at about 100 mph. Truck runs, starts great. Guess I'm trying to say, I love em, go ahead and get them Bill.

I like the 370's, they are about the cheapest mod you can do with exception to a plate and they work great, they do idle a little rougher but I don't idle long, they cruise just fine and you can light foot accelerate with minimal smoke then if you want to lay a screen down(tailgaters) you can do that too, I have no reason to change from them to any other. One thing though if you do buy some I would get them from Piers as there are several varieties out there ans he has done allot of testing to get the right ones with the correct washer thickness.

Bill:

I ran with the 300's for a while and was talked into the 370's for more power. Now with the 370's, a #10 plate, 3K GS, and the timing at 16*, I'm right at 430 HP. Oh yeah, with the AFE and 4" exhaust on a 14 housing.

Now that's all well and good if you like that kind of power, but I want the 300's back. I like the powerband they offer for towing. The 370's give the power "right now" and you have to have a lot more foot control. I feel the 300's give more of a controlled feel for throttle response. Maybe I'm just getten old, 59, but I like the 300's better for my application.

I you want we can work something out for my 370's and I'll get another set of 300's. I still have the 215's that came out of the truck. I've thought about them again. Although I've race on the track with my 3500, I'm a tower, not a racer. ;)

370 injectors

I installed my 370 injectors about 5,000 miles and had one small leak, and was taken care of very easily. They will smoke if you hammer down really hard on the go pedal, But they have cleaned up some of the smoke in town driving when leaving from a stoplight. I get a light blue haze of smoke when idleing. My fuel mileage went up a half gallon, if you drive in normal, Which doesn't happend very often. Get'em bill you"ll like them!!

I put the 370s in about 2 months ago and added the 3 GSK and AFC springs yesterday, and now I have to roll into the throttle to keep from loosing the cars behind me in the smoke. I need more air, here comes a PDR 40 next :D :D can you say POWER!!! I am also over the big 60 and thought the hotrod bug was over until bought this truck and a 5er in Feb.

Get them you will love um

370's

Bill,

I would'nt even hesitate to get 370's. They have worked great for my 97. Some of the 94-95 trucks with the smaller (131) delivery valves have had problems with a hesitation just off idle... it seems to affect the auto transmission equipped trucks the most.

I have gotten better mileage (as long as you keep your foot off the floorboard) with lots more power from Idle on up to redline. I did have a slight haze at idle but advancing my timing cleared it right up. Besides the 370's can be purchased cheaper than the factory oem injectors:D :D :D

Last weekend,at our dyno meet, those of us seen Sled Puller make 557 HP/1257 TQ with a 180 smog pump truck(his truck was imported from out west) at our dyno run. I do realize the twins helped some, but, his pump other than the delivery valves and the cam plate is stock and he used the 370's in it. The rampant rumors are that you can not make 600hp on them and they drive bad along with idle rough,I have not seen it. The DD3's make 7hp less than the 370's according to my notes from a chat with them(DD) and have less smoke. This is a theory that does not make sense to me. Old tuners tale says-if there is no smoke in the chimney, there is no fire in the oven. Guess the debate will continue... ... . Andy

I think some of you are missing the point.

Bill has a '95 (auto I think in his 2500) and so do I. what is the difference we would see from installing 215s vs 370s? I have read about a stumble from larger injectors. Are the 370s more prone to this problem with the small 160 pump than 215s? In other words would the 215s be a better upgrade for the small pump or the 370s? Not just from an HP point of view but from overall drivability with more power than we have?

Joe, I guess I should have said it's not my truck am asking about, I'm happy with my current power levels. It was more of a general question though it does apply to a friend's '97 who has the injectors in hand and has been reluctant to install them since his truck is running so good right now with the stock injectors.

Sorry Bill,

I thought you were asking about your truck.

I AM interested in the affects and recommendations about bigger injectors for my '95. A little money fell from the sky the other day, so it is burning a hole in my pocket. I don't want to over do it, but then I noticed that 215s are higher priced than 370s. I kind of wonder about that.

I asked about the 215s being more expensive when I was trying to make the decision you are. Piers told me that the 215 injectors are licenced to Dodge only so they get the extra money on every sale. I would listen to what almost every one else has said and get the 370s. If you have a stumbling problem because your DVs are too small then upgrade those with the money you save on the 370s. I personaly would rather have too much power and fuel controled by my foot than not enough.

I agree with Mr. Baker. My truck is a 94 and had the 131 delivery valves. It would stumble a little at 1300 rpms. I installed 191 valves and it runs as smooth as it ever did. If he puts them in, I doubt he will regret it.

I totally agree with his reluctance to install them. I feel strongly that he should follow his gut on this one.

PM me & I'll forward my mailing addrs ... I'll be happy to try them for him.

When you guys talk about a "stumble" Do you mean the truck falls on its face for a split second, does the engine have a miss in it for a second? I have the small pump on my truck, but it is a 5-speed, was an auto at one time. I was contemplating getting some 370"s but not if it is going to make my truck run like crap, and I really don't want the hassel of changind DV's.

Kinda hard to describe, but no, it doesn't fall on its face. You can feel the engine run a little rough but only if your cruising at 1300 rpm, which I sometimes do in a 35 mph speed limit. If you are going through the gears, it isn't even noticed, only if you hold it at 1300 rpm.
