I installed the 370's today and they will lay down a cloud that will hide a powerchoke, haven't driven it enough to judge the power yet,but the egt will go to 1500 quick with high rpm but not a new problem,I will drive it to work tonight so stay tuned

You need to adjust your AFC and install the med. spring. The light spring did nothing to control smoke for me. If you did the med. spring and the AFC adjustment AND your truck still lays down a huge cloud, I don't know what to tell you. Did you get the "right" 370s, like the ones from Joe D or Piers?

Tim, I know most bombers don't like to hear this... . but slide your cam plate back some #ad
You may find with that particular grind it works well in the middle #ad
... okay 3/4 the way forward #ad

Thanks Piers just a quick adjustment today slid the afc housing back a little and made a lot of difference. I will move the plate back some Monday, spending to much time at FOMOCO this weekend. Piers how is the new 24 valve coming along any smokey burn out pictures for us yet? Tim

Do any of you guys with the 370's get a huge blue cloud on cold start up and a bad case of the shakes trying to accelerate the first minute of run time and a surgeing upon clutch engagement? The power is nice but not worth the one square block hazeing every morning, heck the smoke police would love ole thumper right now, may be worse than a city bus.

ramman:

I have the 370's and do get the "blue
smoke" you describe on start-up. It
started this when the weather turned
cold. However, I do not have other
problems you described.

Ramman,

I too used to have the blue cloud upon startup. All that was fixed when I had Dave's Diesel "tickle" my pump. Startups in even the coldest weather are fast and no smoke. I will admit that there is a very slight haze (only seen at night through someone elses headlights) for the first minute or so when it's cold but thats all.
Now WOT is another story. The pump was "tickled" the way I wanted and in anticipation of a bigger turbo, so right now I do have a medium cloud of dark grey smoke at full throttle.

I have a slight shake just above idle and some blue smoke if temps are down around zero other then that there ok even at full throttle smoke is not to bad. I did slide the afc housing back aprox 1/16 after installing the 370`s

Thanks for the replys guys it appears that a timeing adjustment may be in order and the 16 cm housing laying in the shop needs to be installed,Maybe with a little tinkering I can lesson the smoke trail if not I can remove them and go back to my other set,but hp/torque are an addictive drug of which the byproduct is SMOKE and powerjokes and morning shakes, heck it even sounds like an ADDICATION, I may need help the aldyhides have gotten to my brain. PS thanks Piers you are the MAN.
