Koa Man,

I talked with Piers again and he said that with the 180hp auto that you would definately see a much bigger gain, but still not 100hp. He said that on a 180hp, if you did delivery valves and the injectors that you could se up to 100hp.

I appreciate your research Stefan, and I can't say exactly how much more hp the 370s gave my truck since it has never been on the dyno. Don't even know if one exists here. If the #5 plate gave me 90hp over stock, the 370s increase sure feels like about the same on the SOP meter! It maybe only 75hp, who knows, but it feels great.

I think it's fixed

Here is what I've seen so far.

  • Change: 16 Turns towards engine on AFC spring

    SPec's: 24. 5 max. regulated by waste gate, 20PSI at 2000 RPM

  • Change: #11 TST Plate (Stock Position)

    Spec's: 36 max. non-regulated, 20PSI at 1700RPM, 30PSI at 2000 RPM

  • Change: #11 TST Plate (All the way Forward)

    Spec's: 41 max. non-regulated, 20PSI at 1700 RPM, 35PSI at 2000 RPM

  • Change: #11 TST Plate (Forward) & 370

    Spec's: 41 max. regulated, 38PSI at 1700 RPM, 41PSI at 2000 RPM

The 370's did add some power. Before I would max. out on RPM's right as I reached 41 PSI on the boost. Now I can hit 41 PSI at 2000 RPM. This give 5-700 RPM more of full power.

I ran 550 miles this week and found my return line was leaking on 2 injectors. After retighteng all feed and return lines, the power seemed more and smoother.

Problem was just a bad mechanic... that's me.

O'well I am my own warrenty, repair, and mechanic shop. That's the way I want it! :D

Here is my report on the cheap(fake?) 370 injectors.

Installation went pretty smooth but took quite a bit longer than expected. (had to finish in the dark with a flashlight). The seals on the new injectors seemed to be the same size as the originals so I used the supplied seals.

I only have SOTP to go by but on my first drive it was obvious that there was quit a bit more power. First night I only went to 7-11 about 1 mile.

Today I got to drive around quite a bit. I feel that the injectors gave me a lot more power. Takeing off from a red light you have no problem takeing off faster than everyone else(not raceing just putting your foot down a little. Boost now goes to 22 lbs at half throttle. I was surprised that smoke has not increased to the point of being a bother except when you floor it at too high a gear. (I was expecting a dark cloud to be following me around). EGT is about 200 deg. higher all the time and has hit up to 1200. Trans temp is about 170 most of the time at 90 deg. outside temp. up about 15-20 deg. from stock. I now have a hard time keeping speed down to 35 and use the brakes more.

Overall drivability seems good and if I had to guess I would say there is a good 30% more power than stock. To me 30% for $250 is a steal and I would do it again.

BTW boost is still only 22lbs. Should I be doing something to increase boost?

With out boost your power is limited. After getting everything correct with my injectors I can hit 41 PSI regulated by waste gate. In fifth I can get the full 41 PSI at around 22-2300 RPM. That gives 4-500 RPM of full power for pulling.

Get more boost, it'll help. Hell pinch off your waste gate line once and feel the difference.

So this boost increase should be happening without any modification to the waste gate?

I haven't tried a 'all's to the wall run yet (didn't want to blow it up the first day) :) but no doubt about the increase

If your waste gate in not touched, the 22PSI max is controlled by it. To get more boost you will need to adjust the signal (air line) going to the waste gate. I was just suggesting removing the surge line to the waste gate and taking it for a run. This will show your max. boost and also show the HP your missing.

Without touching the waste gate your boost should come on faster. In stock form you have to crank the piss out of the engine to get the waste gate to open. With your current config. you should here the waste gate opening much sooner. Which means your have the same fuel at that point as you did before at full throttle.

Thanks for the repley. Whats the permanent solution? Is this where the boost elbow comes in? Do I need to plug the signal line? Please excuse my ignorance.

See what your max boost is. If it is 35-37 plug the line and leave the waste gate off. If it is more than 38 I would suggest using the waste gate. Either find a member with an albow that is no longer using thiers (this is common for people with HX-40) or make your own.

In all actuality I hardly use the waste gate unless and import or sports car wants to play:D :D !

My boost before the 370s was about 24, after it went to 28 and then I pulled the rubber hose from the steel line going to the waste gate and plugged it with a bolt and now get 34lbs boost. Moving the plate forward about a 1/16 " made a nice difference also.

Well I pinched the line and boost went to 31 lbs. Top end is a lot stronger now bottom end is good and now that I adjusted the idle, driveability is as good as when I started. First real bomb project went real good. Thanks for all the help. Five smile rated.

:D :D :D :D :D

I didnt want to go with pump mods because I still have 38,000 miles to go on my engine warranty. If I dont have a KDP problem by 100,000 miles I'll open er up make the DP mods and start on the pump(if I can wait that long). So this worked out good in my case.

BTW trans temp up to 180 deg. about 90 deg. outside temp.
