I finished the install of a PDR 35-14 and 370's in another members truck(98 12v, 5-spd, 2500). His application is hauling a big travel fifth wheel. His gross is 21500 lbs. I installed a #11 for him last year and slid it forward. He hauled through BC earlier this summer and his EGTs went over 1250 on long hills which forced him to back out of the go pedal. He did not like this so I moved his plate back. Then he did not like the loss in power. To make a long story short, I discussed different options with him and he decided to stay with an HX-35 and add injectors.
Adding the PDR 35-14 drop EGT by at least 150*F. Spool-up is better than stock and smoke was all but gone. Today I added the 370's and EGTs are back up but are easily managed. The low end power is so much stronger. Heck, the power everywhere is stronger. Smoke is non existent if you roll into the throttle on the bottom end. Smoke is noticeable but not obscene on the top end. I really have not been able to stay in the pedal for long as the truck accelerates really fast! I have to turn the truck over to the owner (Jim) on Tuesday so I will try and play a little tomorrow night. The #11 plate is positioned about 0. 030" shy of full forward.
Once my banker says go, I think I will put this same setup in my truck. Obviously Jim will still have to drive using the pyro while towing, but the PDR 35 should let him use around 300 RWHP under constant load.
Thanks to the guys who chimed in!
Oh yah, truck is much quieter at idle and while under light throttle driving. I had just finished bleeding the injectors and started the truck when I was called to dinner by the boss. She said, "that truck is much quieter than yours. " I thinks to myself, this may be the bargaining tool to get 370's!
