Well I did it, I ordered up a set of the correct 370 Diamond B's from Piers Diesel Research. In case you all didn't know they are one of the January sale items and includes the install tool as well you can't beat the price. And if that wasn't enough the Christmas present that the wife got was at the door when I got home :D :D :D CHROME VALVE COVER SET :D :D :D

Life is good

your right

Eric, your right thanks for pointing that out I haven't ever changed injectors before who makes a good injector puller for our 12 valve rigs ?

LarryB, yeah I think the Con-O will be just fine as long as I can stay out of the pullin stuff in the summer.

No problem, I made the same mistake.

You wont be disappointed with the injectors. :D

If you could get the right size nut (unusuial thread, cant get it just anywhere) have it welded to a cheap slide hammer. This is something I didnt do. It was a PITA to do the job w/o this.

I dont remember what the thread count was, but it's somewhere here,do a search.

The voice of experience has spoken. :D:p

Mine came out pretty easy using vice-grips they don't have to be real tight just enough to grip them as you pull ,a little push fowards & backwards helps to break the tough ones loose.

BOMBS AWAY!!!!!!

tool

hardware store

buy nut to screw onto injr threads then

but to it a 6 to 8 inch bolt

add a washer on end

and buy a small petal oipe to slide ont he bolt

makes a gtr sm impact tool

its not the strength of it but the small

impacts that will pull them out

bill ps cost 5. 00

A nut in the proper thread size was difficult to locate. Checked all the places you would expect to find one. Ended up finding what I needed at PEP BOYS. An M14 x 1. 5 lug nut and a stud made a nice little puller. Have fun...

Scott,

remember to use the 20 thou sealing washers.

The thicker 60's and 90's move the injector further away from the combustion area of the piston. Loosing some HP.

Thin ones are the best. 20 thou

Don~

Get a M14 x 1. 5 deep lug nut, metric bolt around 100 mm (4") long, and a dually flanged lug nut for a first gen Dodge. The dually nut has 5/8 threads, and will just slip over the bolt. Put the flange toward the head of the bolt and use it as the slide.

Please don't use those darn vise grips, they bugger up the end of the injector.

Blair, I may take you up on that offer of coming down, you can school me on how to change injectors. I will get in touch with you when they arrive and see when your free.

Don, are the sealing washers that come with the injectors the 20 thou ones ?

Thanks to all you guy's who provided info on the specs for the homemade puller.

I am really starting to think that I won't be able to trust myself to wait for the turbo upgrade first. How bad would it be to install the 370's with stock turbo ? I already have the 4k Gov kit, 60Lb valve spring, #10 slid all the way forward, boost elbo, and no AFC Spring.

Scott,

Scott:

Your 370's will work fine with the stock turbo. Later

you may want to go to a "modified Piers"35 or 40.

Piers will be working his "majic" on my HX-40 shortly.

"drawson" really likes his and as soon as I get mine

on, I will let you know the difference between "stock

HX-40" and "Piers modified HX-40. " I am sure the

Piers mods are definitely going to make it last longer.

Good luck!

I just received the HX-40 that Piers modifies. It has the 16 housing. He does some top secret work to it to make it spool up like a 14 housing and does some work to other areas to make it last longer. I still dont quite have the truck back together yet. I will let you guys know how it all works after I get it fired up.

Last minute stuff left to do like install the radiator, hood, exhaust system tomorrow. Hopefully Sunday night I will be driving around in it.

Don~

PS: dont let your kids, if you got 'em, throw your charge air hoses in the parts washer. They swell up like ballons:D

#10 forward, 370s, and stock turbo should give very "earnest" egts. You will be able to flash cook hot dogs by laying them on the exhaust manifold for a couple seconds.

It is unfortunate that it is so much easier to convince folks to get more fueling, but the often more expensive air upgrades are very important too. A while ago, one generally got 1400 deg with a 10 in stock position, HX35/16, no other mods; about 340 hp. With the right air mods, Sickly demonstrated 565 hp with that egt last month. Yep, that's about 225 hp more with the same egt.
