lschultz,

Do you have the "new brite box"? The one that keeps the fog lights on too?

I have a 2003 and bought the brite box last year. Worked for a while and then I started getting a "lamp out" warning light and chime. One headlight would stay on after switch was turned off. I sent them back and received a refund. They said some trucks were more intolerant due to computer controls. I am anxious to try again with the new version. Where did you get yours?

Thanks,

GDK

Yes I have the new version. When your high beam is on fog lights are on too. I got it from Baker Auto Accessories.

Bright Box

I may have missed it reading through the post, but I have the fog lights on my truck that was added on by the dealership, which has a factory looking toggle switch. At the time of install they were telling me (dearlership) that the toggle switch was the only way that they would install the fog light kit with warranty intact. I opted for the "Pull" switch an they could not tell me at the time that it would work or not, tech going strictly by the book I presume. They did offer to let me try a "Pull" switch on my own to see if it would work ,but not being a electrical guru I declined. My question is would this deluxe Bright Box work with my set up. Joel you have the floor.

Thanks, Tony

Tony -- Joel would definitely know the answer to that for you.

As to your question about the factory pull switch -- I installed it, used the factory wiring and purchased an additional jumper for the length between the fog lights. I discarded the add-on kit wiring, switch, relay, etc. They work as if they were factory installed.

lschultz -- When your headlamp was not working, was your "LAMP OUT" message displayed? I recently had the LAMP OUT message display on mine the day after installing the beta unit. I got out of the truck and checked every lamp and they were all working properly. When I got back in the truck, the message was gone.

Not sure what caused it. This was about a week ago and I haven't seen it since.

Well I've had mine in for a while and have some wierd things happening. Now when you open a door the driver head light comes on and will not go out until something electrical is turned on I. E ingition or unlock button on the alarm. Also when the truck is running and you flash to pass the parrenger light stays on. Other than that is cool to have more light on those dark mountain roads.

Joel sent me two more boxes and I put them on. So far everything is working correct. Today is a week they been in. Drove it every day checking them.

I thought I was going nuts but when I hit the unlock on my remote and the parking lamps flash the passenger headlight comes on for about three seconds. No big deal but it does not happen every time so I thought I was seeing things!

Hmmmm sounds like they got some bugs to work out. So far mine is working great. You get use to all the light you don't want to do with out it. Maybe they should of had a longer testing period but I am sure they will find out what is going on.

Reporting my results running the updated Brite box.

Thanks to Joel and the gang for converting my old Brite Box to this new fog light mod.

I sent mine in after vacation (I left soon after this thread started) and got the kit on the 19th of Oct. So it may have had some tweaks since some of you that had installed it last month.

So far the past 5 days everything works as advertised. I tried some combinations of operating the lights with the ign on/off, using the key fob, using the pass function from various headlight switch positions, etc. No problems noted. All functions as normal.

Notes:

*I covered all the wires with that black flex tubing similar to what is currently used on the truck. 'Felt that that would help prevent the wires from chafing over time.

*The 60 sec delay for the lights to shut off (after the ign off-hd lts sw off) functions as normal.

*I have all the stock light bulbs and find that the light they put out together using this box is all one needs. (Now I don't go off roading but think serious people would add additional lights and can keep the orginal bulbs in the stock fixtures).

*Using the pass/flash function of the headlight control flashes both the Hi-lo beams and the fog lights... reguardless of the head light control switch psn. A great attention getter... as it should be... Especially during the day to wake up the cell phone slow pokes holding up the passing lane!

The one thing I would like to note to improve the current system: Increase the length the Fog-Lt connector from the box by 5 inches. This would allow the option to mount the box on the driver side up higher (and further away from the road mist under the truck). I would have liked to mount it next to the metal electric box above the horns. I put it below that box above the wire bundle. That should work fine however.

The Fog-Lt Brite box is a great accessory. I highly recommend it!

After installing my new Brite Boxes, I was concerned about water getting in them. My situation is a bit unique as parts of the year I have to drive through over two feet of water to get where I'm trying to go. I know, it's not good on the truck, but what can you do? :)

Anyhow, I asked Joel if all of the light wires could be extended 30 inches so that they could be mounted on the firewall up near the hood. He gladly offered to trade my boxes out for a set with wires that were 30 inches longer. I received them this past week and installed them. They work great!!

I tested all my light functionality as well as duration with the brights on and had no issues at all. I used split-loom to make the wiring from the firewall to the headlights look factory. Looks great, works great, no worries about water getting in them at all.

Thanks Joel!!! Oo.

Ok... its been a while now, are the bugs worked out of these boxes and is there a link to buy at? The wife is twisting my arm for Christmas ideas!

I see this one here and believe its a Baker Auto Accessories unit but doesn't say anything about the fogs.

http://www.thebritebox.com/index.html should get you there. Genos sells them too. I don't know who has the best price cause I got mine from Baker just cause he was wanting some testers for the 3rd gen with foglights. I think they still have a few bugs to work out. I had some problems with the first set they sent me so they sent me another set and I sent the problem set back. The new set was working perfect for about 2 to 3wks then this morning when I dimed my lights fogs stayed on for about 20 secs before they went out. This happened 3 times on the way to work this morning so I think they have a few bugs to iron out still. I have not had the problems I had with the original set. But they do put out a lot of light.

Hrmm, so maybe the troubles are with the kits that do fogs also. I doubt Geno's would have them for sale if there were faults still being worked out.

brite box

Matt,

Yes, we do have the units for sale - you have not seen them at dealers yet because they are still in the "pipeline". It happens with any new part number. We release the product, dealer decides how many to order, they get the product and then have to update their systems with part numbers, etc. An example of this is our own website as updating the site is secondary to building product. Hopefully we can get to it soon. The Holiday season doesn't make this happen any faster either.

Anyways, if you wait a few weeks, you will probably start seeing product on dealer's shelves. Or, if you want, you can get one directly from us.

Thanks Joel I may do that, does this mean the bugs are worked out with the fog lamp upgrade?
