Hey guys..... I've got a few questions in regards to installing guages in a friends 2005 truck. He bought the A-pillar from Genos along with a Pyro, Trans temp, & boost guage. From what I've read on here Genos ships a boost bolt with the boost guage, The pyro will be installed pre-turbo like on my 99..... My questions are regarding the trans probe, and the A-Pillar. On his 05 he has that grab bar on the A-Pillar. How did you guys remove it? Where did you install the trans probe? On my 99 I bought the 95 RAM trans line with the port for a sending unit.

Thanks for any and all help...

the two oval caps on the pillar have to be pried out and the 2 screws removed and then just pull on it to get the clips released. unless the pods have changes, you need to cut the handle off or you will be able to see the backside of the gauges thru the windshield. Massdiesel sells a line that has a port added that can be used for the trans. sender.

With the 3 gauge pillar you will loose the handle. No way around it. As many options to mount the trans sender as there are members here. Add the dd pan and make it simple :)

why would you want to mess an a-pillar on an 05 Dodge when Edge has an awesome answer than the old style guages... ... ... ... ??? Heck even Banks or Bd's. . Edge my favorite... ... ... ... ..... much more classy???

I was planning on doing the edge/bd monitor + 1 analog on the column and keep my handle, plus do 3 gauges by the rearview mirror.

The BD monitor is too hard to see during the day. The edge is very easy to see. Has anybody asked Edge why no trans temp, the ECM has that data?

Scrappy or any other 2nd to 3rd gen owners,

Do I need to carve on the OEM A-Pillar cover like I had to do on my 99 & then slip the A-Pillar cover with the guages over the existing cover or does the guage pod just bolt directly to the A-Pillar itself? My friend is ordering the Trans line from Mass Diesel today & we'll do the pod Saturday & the trans line next weekend... Thanks for any & all support with this as I'm new to the 3rd Gen ways.....

With the tripple pillar just remove the stock pillar and install the tripple on it's own. :D

Very nice! It seems the 3rd gen A-Pillar is alot easier to install that the 2nd gens... ... :-laf Thanks Bob, GREAT INFO! :D

I'm with Bob 4x4... I took the factory pillar totally off, and installed the gauge one, can't see the back-side of the gauges with mine. Looks great, and I have the factory one intact if I ever take the gauges out.

Pyro Drill & Tap Location on the Exhaust Manifold

Hey guys... . Another question on the install. My friend brought all of his goodies into work today & while I was looking at the instructions I noticed that they didn't really specify a location on the exhaust manifold like I received for my 2nd gen (7\16") in from the flange. Can someone tell me exactly where I need to drill & tap this? Just want to make sure I don't screw this up on my buddys NEW truck.

Thanks again!

Hey Clay, I wrote up what I did on my 03 and posted some links with pics here

Careful not to over tighten the A Pillar bolts as the threaded insert will brake loose inside the pillar, then the bolt wont tighten or back out for removal. Been there- Done that!

Hi Bob,

I too was wondering that and its possible that parameter may not be accessible through the data link, dunno for sure. Even if they supplied a separate pigtail off the attitude cable auto drivers could splice it into the OEM thermistor wire.
