Competition 3G intercooler fit a 1997 12v?

Ok here is the deal I have a 1997 12 vavle..... I know that the 24 valve intercooler is bigger and fits in a 12 vavle.



What about a 3G intercooler? I have a line on one for cheep. Im just looking for some cooler egt's. Will a 3G intercooler fit in a 1997? What will need to be done to do this change?

I think the 3g coolers are much taller and a little narrower. I don't think it would be an easy fit but I don't know how much of a PIA it would be to get it to fit either.

What about a 2000 ford intercooler? This intercooler measures out at 29" X 18" X 2 " core size.



Anyone know what a 12 vavle 1997 intercooler measures out at?

As far as the 24 vavle intercoolers go are they all the same... ... . 98-02? Nothing changed.



I did read somewere that they stoped painting them because they would flow better with no paint on them.

I just installed a 2002 intercooler in my 92. The core is

36 x 16 3/4 x 2 That's core not overall.

The USB still has some issues that need to be taken care of. I talked to Puis last week and he is working on some new stuff that he thinks will fix my problems Im haveing with it.

I just looked at a 3G pickup and I don't think that it would go in there. It would just be to much to do, and I don't think that its much bigger then the 24 vavle intercooler. I have a guy with a 98 intercooler out of a 2 wheel drive pickup that wants to sell it to me. I think that's the way im going to go for now.

I have also heard that the intercoolers will cool better when bare but I think the reason they stopped painting them though was to save money I left my 24v cooler painted so the nice salt spray around here doesn't eat away at the aluminum as quickly.



Other than being painted or bare, all 24v coolers are the same from the best I could determine.



edit: Make sure the 98 cooler is from a 24v and not a 12v.
